What wader is this?

Was walking round a big lake today and this bird got up in front of me.

I think it must be nesting because it kept flying close by and did'nt seem to want to leave the area.

I only had a 70-200 so put a 1.4 converter on just to get a shot for id.

These are very big crops so the quality is not good.

Thank's for the quick id.

The more I look at the crops the more I'm impressed with the quality.

Here is the original image and was taken with my Canon 70-200 f5.6 and at it's softest focal length (200mm) plus a Sigma 1.4 converter.

What do you think?
