To save me time ( Lazy Bugger) Can all you people with user experience please let me know which is the best camera.

Nikon D700 or Canon 5d MK2

the quick answer is no. In short they are both truly fab bits of kit and you need to decide for yourself which fits and suits you best.

Sorry, gonna have to get off the sofa. ;)
 
I found the build quality of the 5D2 to be good, but not as good as the D700. 5D2 has movie mode and more MP though (but not quite as good high ISO performance).

You couldn't really go wrong with either to be honest. Is it for you? If so, do you have any significant Nikon kit already (i.e. good glass, which will make switching expensive)?

The 5DII could have been 16-17 Meg of quality pixels but it seems to be 21 Meg of average pixels. The inherent technology of the two offerings is about the same it's simply that they've chosen to use it differently.
