Recently took my partner to Woburn Safari park on a Zoo Keeper experience day, we both had a great time and managed to get up close to some animals you would normally not see :)

Managed to get some fairly nice snaps! Took over 600 on the day so haven't had a chance to go through everyone in terms of processing however here is what I have done so far!

Ankole Cattle

Feedback welcome guys, any tips on how to process different let me know!

Cheers,

Looks like you are not a fan ow Paws and Hooves :D

Some nice sharp shots, maybe a little green, but the clipping of body parts is my main criticism (although, not is bothered by that)

Pretty much as Neil said in the first line his post. ;)

You have caught some nice expressions and poses though :)

Exactly what I was going to say too - although I do like the wolf shot

Pretty much what everyone else has said, the only other thing I'd add is watch the backgrounds and horizon. No 1 doesn't really work for me due to the slope and houses, I also think that the fact you can't see the eyes takes a little away from it. However I do like the wolf and the lions, especially the expression on No. 4

Thanks for the feedback guys! Really appreciate it, I found it fairly hard to get the shot a few times due to being in a really bumpy jeep!

Will be looking through the rest of the snaps later so may find a few more that I will put up :)

Hopefully next time I go I will have a little more experience and should be able to get the animals in frame a little better. I do have a few more of the wolf not zoomed in that far so I would be happy to post them if you would like to take a look.

Cheers,
RyanJS254

Everyone that has commented in here will also freely admit that zoo photography is not easy.
Just practice and have fun doing it :)

Very true - I find safari parks particularly frustrating tbh!!

What Chris (Cobra) said. Any photography that involves animals can be frustrating. I've spent whole days taking pictures only to rush home, download into lightroom and then transfer 99.9% of them to the recycle bin! However when you get that on occasional one that you see that makes you go wow, its worth it. (So people tell me :) ) Keep going, the nice thing about digital is, it doesn't matter how many shots you take, its all free.

Spend some time on here and post your pics for feedback. Most are friendly and willing to help. Look forward to seeing more

From the top,
The post sticking out of the Ostrich's arse is a little distracting
Lemurs pretty good, but you chopped its tail, (Serve's it right for having such a long one IMO :D )
also a shallower DoF to lose the windows would also help.
(but that's just a minor niggle, you'll get used to "backgrounds" the more you take :) )
1st Ankole pretty good :)
but another minor point, more empty space for it to "look into" is always good.
2nd Ankole wot no feet? :D the background again as per the Lemur.

Lovely wolf, had it been mine though I'd have cropped tighter to lose the pipe (or clone it out) and the fence behind it.
But all in all a better set than the first :)
