That's gorgeous Poacher. It almost looks like it could do with the saturation reducing, those colours as so vivid, but I like it that way.

Wish I could stumble across one of those, absolutely beautiful but Im not sure if its my eyes or the TV screen I am using but I'm seeing a halo?

I`m not seeing a halo on my screen, but it is possible I`ve over processed it I often do and have to re do it.

What stunning colours and very well captured. I wondered why such vivid 'eye' colouring or even 'eye -look-alike' patterns and the answer is that it's a defence feature to add to rubbing its wings together making a hissing sound. For winter hibernation (usually in a tree trunk) they convert some blood sugar into glycerol,acts like anti-freeze.
Amazing..but then, Nature always is.
