Probably the most taken photo in York other than the Shambles.

Would have prefered less wall on the left and taken from a slightly lower viewpoint. Also maybe a composite of images (one for the car lights and one for the rest) would work.

I took a few landscape shots at the time, but I felt the strong reflections from the wet walls were the dominant feature which I wanted to emphasise , also it would have dragged the minster to the middle of the frame which I wanted to avoid, hence a 'portrait'
 
The portrait version fills the frame more from top to bottom such is the imposing angle of the city walls pathway leading up to the minster. The wetness and reflections do add something but at the expense of the clarity and tonality of the sky, which, due to the composition there's not very much of.
