Sunset above Tegernsee in the Bavarian Alps

Being lucky enough to be spending a few years living in Munich, I am fortunate to be able to head out after work for walks with friends for sunset in the alps. After a few weeks of bad weather we headed out for a short walk above Tegernsee to the Riederstein chapel, for a picnic and sunset. The...

Bearded Vulture from the Austrian Alps

While staying in a hut at over 3000m a few weeks ago, I was sitting in the dining room with my partner discussing the plans for the next day as a we were treated to a flypast from a beaded vulture through the panoramic windows. After it had gone I grabbed my camera and long lens and ran outside...

    Beautiful in red

I don't find myself particularly fond of the result of the dehaze slider, I know lots of people really like it. I sometimes use it, carefully, for photos of people in the mountains.

    Beautiful in red

The first and last are great. Could the last do with a bit more contrast, specifically on the mountain? The colour palate in the first is wonderful

Sunrise over a misty Berchtesgaden, Bavaria

Back at the end of October I managed a 4 day landscape photography trip with one of my friends. I now live in Munich so it was great the explore some of the local area. Towards the end of the trip we spent two days in Berchtesgaden, little did we know that while we were there the Covid rates...

    Watzmann Sunrise, Bavaria

I have revisited it and think I prefer it after a slight tweak now I have a computer again and editing is a bit easier than on the iPad. Well thankfully you don’t have to gain 1000m for this, it’s a much shorter walk in than that! That image will probably be appearing here some point in the...

    Watzmann Sunrise, Bavaria

thanks. It's interesting how different people have different takes on landscapes, I love the light on the mountain, but then find the rest of the scene is a bit dark and flat compared to the pre sunrise photos. There is a 4x4 track most of the way up, it goes to a small hut. Then there is a...

    Watzmann Sunrise, Bavaria

It was on a small summit called the Grunstein just west of Berchtesgaden. For more details there is a map on my blog https://www.masterplan-mountaineering.co.uk/2020/10/bavaria-landscape-photography-berchtesgaden/

    An autumnal Geroldsee, Bavaria

Thank you, was lucky with the cool and clear conditions It really is a fantastic area, I am primarily a mountaineer so it really is a big playground. I will take a look at that location, sounds interesting, thanks. Thank you, it really was quite accidental, it was all around the first shot...
