    Smartphone Camera

I can only speak from personal experience, everyone will be different. For me, I had the same conundrum a few years ago and decided to bite the bullet and get rid of all my gear. It was being used, but not anywhere near as much as my phone. Since I did that, my interest in photography has...

Thanks. I think I was hoping the sky/clouds would do something in mono. Appreciate the feedback.

    Critique B&W Critique Please

I've picked up the camera after quite a long break with a view to steeping my photography up a notch or two. Looking for some critique please. When I took it I was happy with the shot, also when I took it into Lightroom. However looking back at it now it seems quite boring! Not sure why, hence...

    The vividness of a photo

For this photo, and for a semi-beginner, I would shoot with aperture priority and have the metering set to centre (not spot). It should allow the colour to pop a bit before you take it into Lightroom. It would also give you the results you desire with a quick exposure increase. It's personal...

Alternative to lightroom mobile for android?

I'm sorry, I was wrong. Snapseed edits NEF beautifully on iOS, but not Android. That's very annoying as I assumed as it worked on the iPad it would work on Android. Now I need a new Android RAW editor, will follow this thread. Ps Google, sort it out, it works on iOS!

Alternative to lightroom mobile for android?

I use Snapseed for on the go RAW edits. It has all the basics covered and is very intuitive. You can then save the RAW file, covert to a jpg, email, social media etc. I've been using Snapseed since before Google bought it and it has always been my go to mobile editor. Oh it's free too!

    Lightroom and Google Drive

I am looking to start using Lightroom more, but find the tether to a single machine quite restricting. I will be doing some edits in Desktop Lightroom, but also some edits on a 7 Plus and Android Tablet. I want the mobile edits to be in Snapseed as I don't really like mobile Lightroom. It...

    Beginner Courses...books...for a beginner?

I would strongly recommend Lynda.com. There are so many subjects that are covered and they are all very, very good videos. You can sign up for a ten day free trial. That's enough to start with. Sign up to that, cancel it and then go back and pay if you want to. If you sign up for the annual...

Shutter won't go higher than 1/30

Thanks all. I'll get some test pictures done shortly and post them in here. I should have done that in the first place, but I thought I was being thick and missed something obvious.

Shutter won't go higher than 1/30

I just saw this after my last post about the auto settings. This all rings true, but the shutter being 1/30 is true when the ISO is set to a fixed amount too.

Shutter won't go higher than 1/30

I just had a play around in the auto settings and the camera does tend to like 1/30. I took a few test shots and each time it changed the ISO to ensure the shutter speed was 1/30. Sadly, it's not advanced enough to have an auto-ISO option to set the minimum shutter speed. I'll carry on...

Shutter won't go higher than 1/30

Bring on the obvious as I'm sure it's simple! It's correctly exposed at ISO200 and 1/30 at f3.2 ... however, those settings are the same inside and outside with a correct exposure for each. The exposure is only affected by ISO, shutter and aperture right? I'm not missing something?

Shutter won't go higher than 1/30

Incidentally, the exposures all look fine in aperture priority - but I need faster than 1/30 and it's annoying me not knowing what is causing the problem.

Shutter won't go higher than 1/30

Thanks both. This is a fixed lens, so no option to swap it out sadly. In shutter priority it moves freely up, however, it is massively underexposing over 1/90 - so they are linked somehow. The ISO is on 200 and the flash is set to off.
