Bob, Graham, thank you both very much. I shall look at your recommendations and probably use one, or both, of them. :)

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Yes I have had this problem with my A9 and A7R3. It was intermittent and took months to diagnose the problem. To cut a long story short, I had some t-shirts that had reflective writing on them. Every time I wore on of these and held the camera in front of my body the viewscreen would go blank...

    Mirrorless

I owned a D500 and an A9 (I no longer have the D500). The AF on both is very quick, however, the A9, with the latest firmware update, is much better than the D500 (IMHO). I used top end lenses on both and the A9 came out the winner for me. The D500 is more than adequate as a camera, so is the...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Found it here... https://www.sonyrumors.co/sony-a9s-imx310-sensor-has-16-bit-global-reset-shutter-on-chip-dual-gain-hdr-96db-dr/ I'm not that technically minded when it comes to shutters and sensors so I may be talking rubbish, anyway, would be interested to see what others think.

The new a9 will probably have a 'Global Shutter'. The present a9 already has it but it's disabled in software for some reason (Overheating?) Other than that it's anyone's guess what Sony will come up with.

Singapore is amazing, it's a melting pot of cultures, lots to see, lots to do and photo opportunities at every turn. Me and the wife love it and will be going back.

Is DSLR about to die off?

Totally agree with you. I owned a D500 before moving to the 'Dark Side' with the Sony A9 (and a7r3 and an A6500 for street), it's an amazing camera (D500), however, for me at the moment the A9 is better. The reasons why don't matter, for me it's just better. The best camera is the one that works...

    Thinking about mirrorless

I've owned a D810 and a D500 and loved them both. The D500 AF was very good. However, I moved to the darkside and purchased a Sony a9 (and an a6500 for street photography), I have to say that I prefer the Sony over the Nikon, It's even better than the D500 in many respects, AF being just one of...

    Strange photography behaviour

As the moon is some 250,000 miles from earth the flash would take about 1.3sec to reach it, so a delay of 1.3 secs is needed to stand any chance. lol :) I really need to get out more!
