    Advice Wanted

In that case forget what I said  First thing I'd do is find a safe place to get down to the racers level to really get into the action and take it from there.

    Advice Wanted

Light is bound to be fairly low, so slow speed panning shots will probably be a safe bet. You might find the light is also a funny colour and autoWB might struggle, try your preset WB's based on what you think is the most prominent light and if they aren't looking like what you see then take a...

    Fluke picture

How long has the rule of thirds been the only compositional rule? It's not badly composed, it's well composed IMO, and that's why it works. The subject is attractively placed in amongst some negative space. Also I totally agree with flukeman, most people would have moved on, looking for a...

Wedding - not to everyones taste?

To me they couple look a little uncomfortable, especially in 3 & 4. He has his arms around her, but looks like he's trying to get away from her. Not keen on them looking out of frame in the rest. Technically the photo's do have a high class look about them that I like.

    Can these be saved?

Yeah having the RAW file helps. You should be able to bring the exposure back a bit and use the recovery slider to rescue some of the detail in the white, they don't look too far gone.

Nikon D700 official owners/users thread, anything related to the D700

I think they are going up not down at the mo, with all of the terrible trouble in Japan. For those that don't already know, the factory making the D3s/x and working on the D700 replacement was badly affected by the tsunami and earthquakes. As far as I'm aware they haven't yet managed to resume...

You've done a better job than I know how to do, was just spouting how they come across to me :)

    Boxing Gym Promo shoot

I like all of the environmental ones, I think they convey what you're trying to say about the gym/club/etc. quite well. The studio ones, while technically fine, don't bring the message across half as well.

    Candid walk through the bluebells

Hey Dawn, don't worry too much about what the viewer wants. Remember all the feedback given here and in other forums is opinion, not fact. To keep it fun you need to shoot for yourself. Of course having feedback is great and it's good of people to take the time, but it's best to pick up on...

Nikon D700 official owners/users thread, anything related to the D700

The image size should be slightly smaller than your D300s, as the D700 has slightly less pixels.

    First outing with camera

Well as I said, the photo's are very good. As a pretty much first go, it's quite scary how good you might end up getting! I totally agree with your philosophy of getting the best from the off, it just doesn't happen very often. Well done and good luck with the learning process :)

    First outing with camera

First outing with camera? Surely you mean with new camera? The photo's are very very good, and not many people buy a D700 as a first camera...
