    Camera backpack recommendations please

I've used the BYOB9 DSLR Insert for quite a while. It is very well-made and has been perfect in a couple of my hiking backpacks. I've now bought the BYOB10 due to wanting to take more lenses

What software do you use to catalogue photos?

I could never get to grips with Lightroom Catalog as it made little sense to me, so used Bridge instead. Everything is filed in descriptive folders, so easy to find. Nowadays, I mainly use Faststone Image Viewer to browse, rename etc. It's very quick

    Best backpack for travel

The Tenba Solstice series look to be a possibility. I use regular hiking packs with Tenba BYOB inserts

Derek Forss, a YouTube contributor who uses Olympus cameras, has some useful videos about using spot metering. Perhaps these would be helpful.

My copy works fine with Dual IS after I upgraded it to the v1.2 firmware. It's an excellent lens

    Shimoda alternatives

    Nikon Lens Advice

The 18-105mm was the original kit lens for the D90. I found it to be quite excellent on my D90. Although the build felt plasticky and it was quite light, I couldn't fault its performance. Both D90 and lens were replaced and I used the Nikon 16-85mm which became my "go to" lens on later Nikon DX...

    Beginner Wide Angle Lenes

I'd recommend the Nikon AF-P 10-20mm which Nikon thoughtfully designed as a lightweight UWA lens for their DX bodies.. I've owned both that lens and the Tokina 11-16mm at the same time. I think you'll find the Tokina to be very front heavy on your D3400. I was never completely happy with the...

Super pic from the GX9. That little 12-32mm is an incredible lens. I'm often amazed at the sharp, detailed images it provides on my GX80

    Upgrading an old body

I would second that. To me, D3300 was the peak of the d3xxx series. I would contemplate adding an AF-P 18-55mm lens (works with D3300) for little money
