    Should I buy a 35mm prime?

WHS ;) I had the luxury of trying my OH's 50mm f1.8 on his Canon 40D but it just didn't feel right. Am really pleased I went for the 35mm, its a great wee lens and goes perfectly with the D3000.

    Gas and Electric Prices

We also pay £200 per month combined for a 3 bed detached (2 adults & 1 14yo). Although bearing in mind that includes a roomful of pc's, laptops and test servers which are on 24/365 as my OH works from home. That would make what you are paying a bit steep unless you have similar devices running...

    secondary school biology in Scotland

I feel your pain, we are having a (sort of) similar problem with our 14yo and English. The first thing I would do is have a word with his Biology teacher, find out where he is struggling and ask if there are any books or revision notes they would recommend to go along with the way they are...

    MRI scan advice.....

Had my knee scanned end of last year. They only covered my legs with the machine so, assuming they do the same at your hospital, it shouldn't be claustrophobic at all. As said above, it is a very weird and noisy machine but with headphones on you hardly notice. My scan was in the evening...

    have you got wind

Conditions have been nasty for hours here on the Clyde coast. Prestwick Airport is recording average winds of 40-50 mph (47mph at 11am but down to 41mph at 1pm). No damage yet, thankfully but the worst is still to come according to the BBC news.

    SNOW

And just a handful of miles away in Troon we have.....nothing. Just wet here although the sun is shining at the moment. :cuckoo: As much as I love Troon the fact we have our own wee micro climate due to being stuck between hills and the sea, really puts a dampener on those who like snow...

I would love you see your reptiles!

Awww, there are some gorgeous reptiles in this thread  Haven't taken or shared photo's of my wee clan for ages so here's a recent one of each: Petal Rio - Brazillian Rainbow Boa Groundmonsta - Normal Royal Python Cuddy - African House Snake (photo actually taken by my son...

What's the wind like where you are!

 Could've done with those kind, nearly got blown off my feet outside the house! Just back, a few branches down on the roads, a lot of leaves flying about and just missed some plasterwork falling from the front of the indoor market in Kilmarnock, but otherwise not as bad as I though it...

Any Marine Fishkeepers? Clownfish advice required.....

Hey Marcel, welcome to the world of high stress marine fishkeeping ;) Try not to panic too much. You might not have started in the ideal way but there's no reason why you can't rescue the situation. I kept marines for many years from large reefs to teeny nano tanks. In many respects, nano...

Calling all Landscape togs..!!!" & anyone that knows the isle of skye"

The lighthouse at Neist Point is a pretty good location. An interesting, if very steep, walk to get to it too.

Help on camera DSLR for wife

My OH bought me my Nikon D3000 last Xmas in similar circumstances and I absolutely love it. Its simply & intuitive to use (& if you forget what something does you press a button and it reminds you - perfect if you are numpty like me), the IQ is pretty good tbh and its small enough & light...

    Any fishkeepers out there?

I used a couple of marine fish forums and advertised for good homes, collection only. Most went locally but one guy came all the way from the borders. Worth a try. Either that or take them to a good lfs who will do you a swap for other fish, or smaller versions, and rehome yours for you. I...

    Any fishkeepers out there?

Had a 6'x2'x2' marine reef tank which I dismantled last year, now all I'm left with are two nano reef tanks - 24g & 7g - which are still fun but don't cost £400 per quarter in electricity to run ;) Loved the large reef but it took way too much work & cash to keep running. Still miss my fishes...

    Ayrshire Seascapes

Thanks for all the comments, nice to know I'm on the right track. Knew it was the wrong time of day the minute I got out of the car lol That edit is lovely, thanks Craig. I'm not very ambitious with my editing, need to be bolder and pluck up the courage to have a go at editing 2 versions...
