    Abbey Gardens in Autumn

Hope you don't mind, ... thought the colour needed bringing out with the levels.

    South End River Bank

Unfortunatly I only had my digi compact so i had no control over the depth of field. A well made point though, a shallower dapth would have improved the impact of the subject. Thanks for the imput GFK. :)

    Ariel Rios Courtyard

Personally Tuna, I think the original compostiton works best, walking in from from right to left. Great photograph, very impressed with what you have posted so far. :)

    South End River Bank

Taken at the weekend in Lincoln. Adjusted levels, curves, colour balance & sat's... original crop. I like the mood in this image, what do you guys and gals think?

    A few recent offerings

I agree with stepheno, number 1 is my favourite. Being a fan of abstract I like the strong sense of colour and the angular lines but what makes this shot is the capture and frame of the abseiling window cleaner. Nicely done,... some good candids there.

    Lindisfarne

Here's my effort. Using adjustment layers I: • Pulled in the levels • Added some contrast with curves • Boosted the contrast (with Brightness/contract) by 6% • Used the burn tool (shadows and mid tones) in certain areas that needed emphasis, ei: the sky, FG...

    Matt or Gloss?

I thought i'd read in Pratical Photography magazine that gloss is richer and gives better depth for hand held picsor an album but Matt was useful if the image is going into a frame, as there was less reflection inteference from the print and once the glass goes over the print itself, add's that...

    Max Portrait

Jon: I've pulled them out the pic a bit with some curves and a tiny bit of sat... Boon: I think his right eye has something wrong with it or maybe it's down to the fact that you can see more of it than the other but I see what you mean. Hows the crop in this image,... better? It feels...

    Styles

I would say black and white but can you give it a lot more tone and depth like the colour version? IMO it needs to be darker and a bit moody'er. Good DOF.

    By the Riverside

Thanks for the comments guys, truley encouraging. These are photos taken from the riverbank running from The Deep through drypool bridge, North bridge and along Hull city centre. We've gone back there four times now, covering a chunk at a time. There's a lot to see when you take time to stop...

    Max Portrait

thats a brilliant idea and a powerfull composition.... wouldn't get the red reflection in the dogs fur also, especially if I took it in a studio. Nice tip :) /edit: actually it works better with the red hue (just noticed that u've increased this since my original post), would a red reflector...

    Max Portrait

I added some sharpening to the image before upload.... so I've added some more sharpening and it looks better still as stated by DJW. Cheers guys. P.s will work on the compo some more after some more critique has come through.

    Contrasts - Old & New

Wow!! Arkady's tweaking has really brought out the punch in that part of the image. Apply this thinking to the entire image and I think you'll be onto a winner.
