Thinking about moving to Olympus OMD-EM1 from 70D

Only had my E-M1 for less than a week and I'm getting better results than when I had my D700, D7100 and NEX-7. The 12-40 is absolutely lovely (I need to learn to zoom in the opposite direction that I'm used to though!) and the 25mm 1.4 is perfect in low light - both focus in an instant. The...

    Panamoz Bacs??

Ordered an Olympus E-M1 & 12-40mm via BACS on Monday 9 June and it's turned up this morning (12 June)- very impressive!

If this is for your Nikon, I had the AF-S 50mm 1.4 on a D700 and loved it - it only came off the camera for landscapes (Nikon 20mm) or macro (Nikon 105mm). It's well built and IMO did everything I needed!

Help me! Move to M43 or not?!

In 2011 I had a D700 that was sold to make way for a Sony NEX-7, I took more photos but had fewer 'keepers' due to the AF speed... At the start of this year I purchased a D7100 and realised that a non-EVF camera really didn't appeal - I also didn't like the additional size and weight. So, I'm...

What was the lens as the images are really nice and sharp, probably just like the subject! :angelic:

    Street Shots from London

Like the South Bank pic - would make a good mono image with a bit of vignetting? Would also crop China Town so it was square, removing the white trainers as they're a bit distracting. (y)

    Laptop headache!!

I'd look at the Microsoft Surface - either a Core i5 Surface 2 or the newly announced Core i3 Surface 3 - both are around the £600 mark. Use an external USB3 drive for a local RAW copy (or full size JPEG) and use the on-line backup for your processed JPEGS - you should be spending more time...

3 in 1 document printer scanner copier

Recently got one of these http://www.epson.co.uk/gb/en/viewcon/corporatesite/products/mainunits/overview/10831 and find it brilliant - quick to start from sleep and economical too with the inks. Looks like it's been replaced by a new model so you may find a cheap one?

    Sunset therapy

Really like it - you could possibly crop the left hand side slightly to centralise the rocks?

    Looking for Redemption?

Unfortunately not, the frame ends as is on the first crop...

NAS or file server for storage & backup?

Just to bring the below guide to this old-ish thread - easy to follow advice and covers most scenarios: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8030/backup-guide

Rainbow at Sunrise - Essex 2013

Got a telling off from my wife as it was 'too early' in the morning and wet from dodging the intermittent downpours - worth it though! :)

Rainbow at Sunrise - Essex 2013

Technically it's the farmer's field and tree :-) I do need to take more time over my processing rather than just a quick tweak in Lightroom...

    Looking for Redemption?

I did have a crop of just the two rows of seats, but it took out the great colours on the left that I felt balanced the image quite well - now it's been pointed out it does suit a more 3:2 composition. Thanks!
