    Newborn Photography props

Hi If you haven't done newborn photography before I would really strongly recommend against any props - it's a simple matter of safety. If you've not got experience and / or training there is so much that can go wrong very easily it's just not worth the risk. I'm not someone who thinks that...

    Newborn Photography Advice

I would add to Phil's questions: How much do you know about safely posing newborns? That's not meant as a 'holier-than-thou' type of thing, it's a genuine question you must ask yourself. I would recommend at least having a look through some established newborn photographer's blogs and some...

Trying a couple of new techniques with my son...

Just having a bit of a play with textures, dust overlays, etc. Luckily my son is a willing model! As always, CC welcome Kids Martial Arts by Little Gems, on Flickr

The only thing better than one Christmas bauble ...

Sickeningly good as always Bethy. Can't even see any cloning required....... apart from maybe a little on the red bauble mid distance on the right with some fluff on it? Probably not. Probably just my monitor  Great connection with baby and love the lighting - how on earth do you do...

    Latest wall art project complete

Thanks. Not really sure on the time as it was done mainly evenings on and off and weekends - I guess about a week's solid work spread over about a month and a half. Learned lots - mainly found out that it's a bad idea to stand on a chair by the kitchen window making a cast of your hand and...

Not photography related, hence it's in here. Thought I'd share the latest (very time-consuming and intricate!) wall art project I finished. It lights up too! :): 1. Steampunk Wall Art by Little Gems, on Flickr 2. Steampunk Wall Art by Little Gems, on Flickr 3. Steampunk Wall Art by Little...

    Latest steampunk wall art project

Finished my latest wall art project - pretty pleased with this one! Very very time consuming placing each individual cog, gear & structure but liking the way it turned out :) I think the lighting from inside helps accentuate the delicate cog structure - looks awesome in a darker room! As always...

Just finished latest art(?) project and thought I'd share it...

Quick update - added a steampunk style lamp and a couple of corner floodlights to it, battery-operated. Again, excuse crappy phone picture! Must do a 'proper' photo of it:

    Footie girlpower

Good to see some more of your people work on here Bethy :) Excellent images and powerful communication - personally I'd have gone for a very slightly higher viewpoint on the first two, but can't fault the lighting on all (as ever)! Dunno if I might have been tempted to clone out the little bit...

Just finished latest art(?) project and thought I'd share it...

Thanks. Possibly a business opportunity - it's something I'm new to and it kind of evolved from a bit of photography prop making I've been doing so I may do a few more (got some ideas along the same lines) and see what happens. Steampunk style art is actually getting quite popular at the moment...

Just finished latest art(?) project and thought I'd share it...

Thanks. For anyone interested in the process (and to answer your question Moz): The canvas is done with a base black gresso (Daler-Rowney) then DecoArt Blue pearlescent fluid acrylic mixed with a little DecoArt Green Gold fluid acrylic, then some Galeria medium grain gel for the rust texture...

Just finished latest art(?) project and thought I'd share it...

Thanks. Yes, think I'll get the lamp done on the top. Gluing is mainly superglue with some hot glue and contact adhesive thrown in there too in some places! Foam joins are usually contact adhesive unless they're tiny, then they're superglue. Cogs, gears, pistons and tiny support structures are...
