    Just for fun

So what do you do with a day with sun and boring blue sky? Play a bit - here are three pics from the same spot but handled very differently. Opinions? Straight descriptive shot, fast shutter. Slow shutter, rather heavily processed. and then a black-and-white rescue and processed a bit more.

    It's not long until SUMMER

The light in the first, the composition of the third (Loch na Stainge), make them stand out for me; also, they're a bit less 'usual'. Have been to that bit of the River Coe but couldn't work the light properly; must go back.

    Surprise view

You were definitely in the right place - both for photography and simply to enjoy being up there. Love the way the lake makes a big slab of blue, so much better than the three hundredth shot from the northern shore.

Notice Some big changes coming to TP

Thank you, thank you. Glad you're prioritising yourself.

    Samyang 12mm - First play

Lovely lens, good pictures; hope it didn't get a salt water splash!

    Mossy ruin

Lovely atmosphere, doesn't need mist; for my tastes it would help if the colour was just a little warmer.

    More recent Glencoe

The shutter speed on the first is nice, better (to my taste) than the second.

    New camera...familiar place

The first is the one; the clouds (and their reflections) make it. I'm not as bothered about absolute sharpness or still vegetation as you are, but can see that 51 MP will work for you. Do you have a lens longer than 45 mm for it?

    Woodland pano

Nicely composed and textured; only the odd bits of bright sky top right are slightly distracting. Can they be slightly darkened?

    Old Meggison Waterfall-Kildale

I agree; the branches and water texture complement each other nicely, and the whole makes a good change from the usual head-on waterfall picture.

    Light on the screes

Now that's light worth waiting for. The sheep might have to go, though... The warmly lit cloud works well too.

What's your favourite vintage 50mm lens of all time?

Morris said: Sure, over time it might kill me but I'm willing to take the chance . Yes, some of these old lenses have some radioactive material in their glass - including the 50mm Super Tak - but the chances of being harmed by it are very low indeed. The thorium is an alpha-emitter; alpha is...

What's your favourite vintage 50mm lens of all time?

For general use, the pre-AI (my copy has been AI-modified) Nikon 50/1.4. But for other, specific, uses different 50s would be preferred.

    Big Skies

Yeah, no. 1 is it. The third (to me) lacks atmosphere, but the passing shower in the first is wonderful.
