I found him sitting on a potato leaf in my garden. I didn't actually use my 105mm sigma for this, I used my 50mm f1.8 and extension tubes with Nikon sb-400 mounted on top for extra light.
I caught this rather large buzzard sitting in the tree behind my garden watching our little dog. Thought I'd grab the camera rather than get the dog in. We live on the back of an accident wood that has very large birds of prey.
I thought it worked really well. I doubt it would be any good in the open as you'd never have the reach. My trusty old 300mm f4 is good for that thankfully. It was an interesting experiment though.
Taken with Nikon d800 mounted with sigma 105mm ex DG HSM os macro. Being no more than about 8 metres away gave me a chance to play with the sigma. What a great versatile lens it is.
Not posted for a while, fancied some close up shots after the storm the other night. Used some close up filters off eBay on my 50mm 1.8 and my SB400 flash.

There was already a lot of noise in the shot because it was on a dark dance floor and as I had it in P mode It took the shot at 640 ISO, as you know anything over 400 will then start to cause noise as the sensor gets hot . If I increase the exposure in Lightroom it will by nature add more noise...
I hadn't realised the size was so big as the forum had auto re-sized, it'll have to wait till later to change them.
I did have to use a bit of NR as I snapped it in P mode and the ISO was pretty high which created quite a bit of noise, even with the flash. It I adjust the exposure any more it...
I was asked by the B&G to get a few candid shots during the day as well as the usual stuff I was expected to achieve these were my favorite 2
