Lightroom 7 - "will appear later this year".

If you bought a perpetual license then it will not be the current version. The benefit of subscription services is that it is an evergreen service and new services are added all the time so there is value in that

    GoPro Hero6

Looks a really great device. I only have the Go Pro Hero 3+ Silver so I guess it will be a bigger step up in capability but if you are a GoProHer 5 owner then I think its a tougher decision. The stabilisation looks amazing and almost if you don't need a gimbal. I will be buying one I fear.

    Sharing Lightroom catalogue, two devices

The problem with one powerful and portable device is hard drive size. 512GB machines are now becoming more common but you tend to pay a premium for these sort of sizes of SSD and large (RAW) photo collections soon fill up your device.. It sounds like they are just making iterations to LR and not...

    Sharing Lightroom catalogue, two devices

Not meaning to be contentious but why would it cost more? Surely record locking would not be required because it is just one user seeking to access the data, it is just the device that is changing. I sense that it is perhaps more to do with latency as accessing large RAW files from the cloud...

    Sharing Lightroom catalogue, two devices

I had this dilemma as well and put photos and catalogue on an external drive. It worked but not ideal and now I just use my desktop for editing. I think Adobe are really missing a trick here as a lot of photographers have more than one device on which they want to view and edit photographs. It...

Big Bang or Gradual Move to Fujifilm

I am still here! Been reading the thread and thanks for all the input although a fait bit of drift:) I won't try and summarise the whole thread but I think dipping my toe in the water first is the way ahead and it might be a bit longer in getting this up and running as I do not want to sell my...

Big Bang or Gradual Move to Fujifilm

Thanks to all who responded. Its great getting different perspectives on how it should/could be done. @Jelster I am off to Glen Shiel in May and then upto Torridon in September to do some hillwalking which I always combine with photography and the prospect of lighter kit is very appealing and...

Big Bang or Gradual Move to Fujifilm

Hi All, I am thinking of moving to Fujifilm but was after some advice on how I should perhaps do it. Replacing a camera system is an expensive business both in time to learn a new system and money to get an equivalent set up. I currently have the following pieces of equipment for my Canon set...

    Elgol wide crops

Is the peak in the foreground to the right Sgurr na Stri? You get a great view of the Cuillin from there. Nice captures.

    Changing Internal Drives/Lightroom

Hi All, Just seeking if I am about to do the correct thing as I am replacing my internal 1TB drive with a 3TB drive to ensure my Lightroom continues from where it left off. I have a hard drive on my PC (E Drive) where I store a folder called pictures and where my Lightroom points to. I have...

    Starting out with Filters

Thanks for the additional replies. I like shooting mountain landscapes mainly and would use it hold back the skies. I did buy a screw on filter (6 Stop) that I used for slowing down water etc but I found that it was slow to use hence the desire for a different system. A lot of pros and...

    Starting out with Filters

Hi, Looking for some advice please. I am contemplating buying a set of filters for my camera and Lee seem to be a good way to go but not entirely sure what I need to buy. I did look at the Lee website and punched in my lenses and it mentioned having to buy a 77mm wide angle adaptor (for my...

    Thomas Heaton

I really enjoy Thomas Heaton's videos. I think he does a lot to inspire a lot of people to get out and shoot and you constantly see him battling with himself whether to go out in bad weather etc. I feel there is a huge over reaction as to whether he is safe in the mountains or not. He dresses...
