Nikon Lenses: "Lock Lens Aperture Ring at Minimum Aperture (Largest f/-number)"

It is my first time mounting a non-nikon lens and I wanted to experiment with a descent f1.4 50mm and this has fantastic reviews. It was a knee jerk reaction because I paid a lot of money (hard earned like everybody else) and see it not working. I assumed it was intended for Z mount. I will keep...

Thank you all, I have never used any non-cpu lens, this is my first time. I googled the error message and got it working, really simple, here is the link Rokinon, Nikon Lenses: "Lock Lens Aperture Ring at Minimum Aperture (Largest f/-number)" View: https://youtu.be/q9DxMnABtUw

Nikon Lenses: "Lock Lens Aperture Ring at Minimum Aperture (Largest f/-number)"

I am very confused by the Z ss and F s on the label, it is Milvus 1.4/50 ZF.2- mount precisely. I mounted it on my nikon D5100, the screen displays rEE, and it says "lock screen aperture ring at minimum aperture (largest f/-number)" I don't understand, does that mean it is not compatible with...

Nikon Lenses: "Lock Lens Aperture Ring at Minimum Aperture (Largest f/-number)"

Thanks for the reply, I guess I have to sell it on, it is difficult for me to upgrade to Z mount system, I have invested a lot in the F mount.

Nikon Lenses: "Lock Lens Aperture Ring at Minimum Aperture (Largest f/-number)"

I just bought the Carl Ziess Milvus Z mount 50mm f1.4 by mistake from ebay (did not read the Z mount bit) but I don't have Z mount Nikon camera, is there any adapter in shops that allows me to use it on my F mount nikon d500/ d5100? Thanks

Beginner What judges look for in a contest

@gerry s thanks for the info, this is my first time entering a photography contest so I am hoping to step up a gear. I guess it is like football referees, they know how to interpret the rules but not necessarily skilled in how to play football.

Beginner What judges look for in a contest

Thanks to all replies. @Dave Canon I believe the competition is organised by the zoo. The zoo was created and it is run by a governmental body. I looked at the profiles of the judges, I did not see any striking portfolios at all which led me to conclude that this is more about promoting the zoo...

Beginner What judges look for in a contest

Hi All, finally I decided to put more effort to improve my photography skills and participate in a zoo contest abroad. I have a lot of shots but I seem to have chosen portrait shots. I had a lot of troubles trying to shoot animals over fences, sometimes through glass which I cleaned with a...

photography in the mist - any useful apps/tools for fog/mist forecasting

Hi all, we had a very misty day today, used the met app to confirm that today was a misty day, bbc weather app said the same last night, few minutes before midnight. Indeed @droj I found the mist embrassed it and over-exposed my shots. :giggle:

photography in the mist - any useful apps/tools for fog/mist forecasting

@JasonPC webcam good idea, why not always use technology when you can. @Scirocco_09, I am still chasing that illusive fog, once I saw a similar scene to Ansel Adams...

photography in the mist - any useful apps/tools for fog/mist forecasting

@Jannyfox answer is very helpful, Indeed I configured the met office page to display visibility in km and that works. So I will use the app as a guide. As for the mist, I will head early at sunrise to a nearby lake, I pray I find some mist and perhaps flying Geese to make it two winning photos...

What is in the mind of great photographers

Trying to understand the mindset of the great photographers, how do they make some outstanding photos of ordinary scenery. I pass everyday by the countryside, I keep saying to myself, it is all green and flat, what is there to photograph. As we are moving into mid-October, I noticed mist...
