Not posted in here for ages. Just thought I'd poke my head around the door and see who bites.

Shots from Africa Oye this weekend. Bad weather forced it away from Sefton Park and into The Picket, where the party spilled out onto the...
Now that makes a lot more sense and is a convincing argument that it could be a lens / crud issue. I've refrained from emailing her an answer until this thread had had a chance to develop. I will do so now and tell her to give the lens a proper clean with a proper cloth. I'll report back...
Thanks, people - appreciate you taking the time. Unfortunately, I'm trying to diagnose this at a distance. She says she noticed the issue a few weeks ago and assumed it was a weird light effect (which it clearly isn't). I'm assuming the lens is clean, but I'll tell her to make sure it is...
I'd appreciate some thoughts on these pics, taken by a friend of mine with an Olympus P&S.
You can see a slightly blurred area to the top left of the landscape shot and to the top right of the portrait one (its the same place because she rotates the camera to the right to take portrait...
I like the B&W the best - it has the most atmosphere and sense of context.

Stunning shot. I disagree about the hair comment - that's what makes it such a cool image - movement, shyness, sexy ....
As for the blown fountain - so what. The van's blown too. But they don't detract from the subject matter. Top shooting.
Right place, right time, perhaps. But her iconic photos of the Beatles in Hamburg will always be classics. She has a retrospective exhibition at the Victoria Gallery until 29 January 2011 - so there's no excuse not to get down and see her work.
She gave a fascinating talk tonight about how...
Its a bit of both, really. The 5D is good; LR3 is good - just pulled the NR slider to the right a touch.
Here's a shot with the 5D at 3200 ISO, 50mm f/1.4 and no noise reduction at all - taken before LR3 was released. Sure, there's noise, but its a very usable shot.
