Thank you. It's potentially an option for me as it would tick a lot of boxes. My only anxiety would be weight... and looking like "that guy" with all the gear....!
The only fly I the ointment would be my nedd to switch out my excellent Canon 15- 85 and replace with another general purpose lens.
My have been but it belonged to my wife's work so I didn't waste much time looking into it. I was using it with the kit lens it came with where things were especially bad, but worked fine in Live View. I tried some running dog stuff with my Tamron SP 70-300 and results fid not match up with my...
Thank you. Out of interest, what kind of shutter count is sensible for a used 1D4? Seen one with 127k but that frightens the hell out of me to be honest!
Thank you. I have used an 80D (borrowed from a friend) and was not impressed with the built quality. Also back focussed horrendously. Put me off... perhaps unfairly.
Would a 5D 3 tick my boxes?
Yes and no. I am aware of where they are (underneath mirror) and have blown them out with a blower, but I have not cleaned them as such. The look okay so far as I can see? What more can I do to clean them?
Hello,
I am thinking of upgrading my 7D.
LOVE the camera and have taken some great shots. I do a lot of dog photography and the servo focussing has (until recently!) worked superbly for me.
However, the high ISO performance is abysmal making it a pretty poor bet for anything in low light...
Hi all,
I've been having focus issues on my 7D, with ever-so slight back and front focussing.
Recently been using a Canon 70-300L (since returned) and the super Canon 70 - 200 F4 IS. Both have given me focus issues on the body, as has my 50 1.8 STM.
I have tried calibrating but the focus...
Thank you all. Some really great advice there. May be a bit of a risk. It's a lot of money even in that condition and I can't afford for a problem 6 months down the line when the warranty ends. Decision made I think.
I am thinking of taking the plunge on a second hand Canon 70 200 2.8 IS listed on a reputable on-line site. The Item is listed as "well-used".
Frankly I'm not bothered about the odd chip to the casing or lens hood or tripod collar because I know these things are built like tanks. The glass is...
Nothing to contribute here... but what is your experience of the 70 - 300 Canon L on the 7D? I am looking to upgrade my Tamron SP 70 300. A great lens for the money but soft wide open and at 300mm
Thinking of a 70 200 L but reckon I would miss the extra reach in the cricket season, where I act...
Thanks all for the advice on this. I have definitely ruled out the Canon 2.8. Too bulky and too expensive for all but the oldest model. The Canon 70 200 f4 IS is now a likely candidate for me.
Thanks - is that the mark 1? I think we're currently on Mark 3, which by all accounts isn't that much of a step up from the 2?
Got to say that the VC on my current Tamron is spectacularly good - but very often redundant as I don't need it. Just helps me to frame shots most of the time.
Really kind of you - much appreciated.
Thinking maybe of taking a plunge on an early L2.8. Renting first would be a wise choice but I'm probably looking at around ten percent of purchase price to do so . sadly don't know anyone locally who has one to try. I guess these things hold value so I...
Thank you again.
I guess the wildlife is an extra. Mainly garden birds, livestock on country walks, stuff on holiday. I am not by any means a serious birder or wildlife spotter. I have heard that the Canon L 400m prime is an outstanding and affordable option for those who are.
Yes. The 7D...
