    Sony RX10M4...not bad for a 1" sensor.

Encouraging words for someone sat on the fence such as me. Among (many) other cameras I have previously owned a RX10 MkIII but long since sold it on while my interest in photography in general waned. I’m now thinking about getting back into it and the IV might just be the way forward.

    Mists of Avalon

A mobile capture from the banks of the River Brue near Glastonbury this week whilst ‘at work’. Being just a phone pic in relatively low light it looks ok on a phone or tablet screen but doesn’t stand up well to close scrutiny or a larger monitor. Wish I’d had a decent camera with me. Only...

    Sony RX100

Having been around the houses and back again in terms of camera ownership and now just wanting a convenient, pocketable compact, I find myself back with a RX100. I had a M1 (or was it a 2?) years ago and found myself wanting something bigger with interchangeable lenses. Well now I’m back with...

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

I have enjoyed using the RX10 III for a short while and it fulfilled the need for a versatile camera for my recent holiday. The image quality is great and the lens range really useful. However, for my day-to-day needs it is a little too big, so it's time to move it on again. Good to see more...

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

My RX10 III arrived today. Not had a chance to play properly yet, but going to sit down now and delve into the menus, try to familiarise myself with it all and set a few things up to suit my needs.

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

At this stage I'm not willing to stretch to a IV, especially as I don't know how well I'll get on with it and knowing my mixed feelings on Sony cameras from past experience. I have though just committed to a pre-owned III, so we'll see how it goes. If I get on with it and if I feel the need for...

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

Following my earlier questions/comments, I have been looking through this thread in detail and am certainly tempted by the Sony RX10. I am slightly concerned about the size and weight, as in the past when out and about with the family (casual outings, rather than specific photography trips), I...

nine images from the faroe islands

Nice set and some stunning scenery. Number 8 is a cracker.

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

The sharpness certainly looks impressive and I do like a nice pin sharp, image with plenty of detail. The bulk is a consideration, but I think I’d be more comfortable carrying this around than a body and three lenses in a large bag.

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

Thanks Mike. It’s some of your images which got me looking in more detail at this camera. Of discounted Sony for a long time, but think the RX10 might be too good to overlook.

High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

I'm going to flog my Fuji gear and am tempted to try out one of the higher end bridge cameras. I did have a FZ1000 previously and looking back it was a good all round package, which probably suited my needs. For that reason (among others) I think that I'm heading back in that direction, albeit...

Wasdale shots with added mono version

A nice set. Number 1 is very nice, but I also find the colours in number 3 very pleasing.

    Beginner Tuition/workshops (desire to learn/improve)

I’ve been tinkering with photography on a casual, amateur level for a number of years. I’m reasonably familiar with the basics, enough to have got me by up until now, at a level I have been happy enough with, but I would now like take things a little further. I live close to Exmoor and the...
