    New Laptop help

A new computer with the Home version of Windows 8 (as opposed to the Pro version) won't have the ability to downgrade to Windows 7. (If you like Windows 8 this may not be an issue, of course.) See http://www.zdnet.com/windows-8-is-a-one-way-street-for-consumer-pc-users-7000007136/ If your...

    Home Network Storage

If you open the image from the NAS Box in Photoshop (or any other software) you are effectively working with a local file until you decide to save it. The opening and saving through the wireless connection won't be as fast as via a cabled connection, but you'll hardly notice the difference...

    So....4g then ?

The problem is with the iPhone, not with the networks. It hasn't been designed to use any range other than that which EE has. This is, apparently, fine in the US but not in the UK. They have offered users who buy an iPhone5 can have a free upgrade to HTC or Samsung, which will work with O2...

Window 7 password problem - Help!

If that works it's brilliant! And very scary as it makes a Windows password more or less pointless. Well found.

Window 7 password problem - Help!

The Administrator account used to show in Windows XP when booting to Safe Mode, but it doesn't do so in Windows 7 as it is disabled by default when you first add another user account during Windows install. (Probably the same in Vista, but who cares?) You can tweak a working computer to...

Window 7 password problem - Help!

It does let you in and you can mess with User Accounts, but Windows 7 should have disabled the Administrator Account by default, so you won't get the option to use the account anyway. If there is only one user account on the computer then Safe Mode won't help, unless the Administrator account...

    So....4g then ?

I believe that the iPhone5 will only work on 4G with Everything Everywhere (who are the only people with a 4G capable network at the moment, which is in trial phase). When the likes of O2 and Vodafone roll out 4G it won't work with the iPhone5. The cost is likely to be prohibitive to all but...

Window 7 password problem - Help!

Try booting to Safe Mode (as the computer first starts up, keep pressing the F8 key until you get a screen offering the option of Safe Mode). You may get the option to log in as Administrator, which may not have a password. (That account should be disabled, but worth a try). If that lets you in...

    Possible new computer

Computers on the floor do suck up all the dust and dog hairs - even if you don't have a dog! It is worth hoovering them out once every 6 months or so, by taking the side off the case (assuming it's not a laptop, of course) and getting all the gunge out - carefully. Check the heat sink baffles...

    What tripod?

The RedSnapper tripod arrived today, within less than 24 hours from order, and it's great. I haven't yet used it, of course, but it feels extremely well made and sturdy. The carry bag feels very comfortable and I believe I shall be really happy with this tripod.

    Google Adwords - any good?

Ha ha - absolutely not! Getting anywhere with Google is a nightmare. As soon as you think you've cracked it they change everything round again! :bang:

    Google Adwords - any good?

The words need to be added in to the Title of the page as well as scattered throughout the text of the website. However, if you have too many instances of the same keywords Google will penalise you - so you can't just have a big block of repetitive keywords. But the way Google decides these...

    new PC options

Building it yourself isn't the hard bit - they're just Meccano sets inside. Stick the right bit in the only hole it will fit into and everything will work. More daunting is knowing what parts to buy to ensure they go with all the other bits, (and how to start troubleshooting if it doesn't all...

    Google Adwords - any good?

It depends on whether you're looking to be at the top of the Google search page (what is known as organic search) or on the adverts to the right hand side of the page (although such adverts are also shown at the top of the page, above the organic listings). Many people have ad-blindness and...

    Best PC for budget

As arad85 says you may need to stretch yourself to £500 or so. I'm no fan of PC World but they do currently have an i5 Lenovo for £479 - see http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-h330-desktop-pc-11875742-pdt.html But, the PC you already have should be able to cope with what you're doing, (unless...
