Guys thanks for these tips. Gives me some starting points to experiment with. As mentioned in a few of the posts, I had the camera on one of the program modes. I'll see how I get on with manual setting. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info guys. Earlier in the thread I was advised not to use continuous light. The reason I thought of continuous was because I'd been watching videos on Youtube trying to get some tips. In this one the photographer is using continuous lights to illuminate the Hilite.

I had on the Nikon 200-500mm John. That bear was very close though and heading straight towards me.So close that I legged it back to the car pretty quick after getting my shots. It was up a tree with two cubs when I started the shoot.
