eBay selling advice needed ... am I being set up?

That is no defence against a chargeback. Sorry to be blunt, but you are giving really bad advice. Anyone could turn up with a hacked account, pay with that hacked account, and the real account owner, could quite legitimately ask for a reversal. Paypal are very clear on this issue...

eBay selling advice needed ... am I being set up?

It's well known scam, there was a lot of it before Christmas, just google "paypal + collection scam". Paypal Seller Protection (which is a paper tiger anyhow) specifically excludes collection from Protection - what is baffling is that Ebay (who own Paypal) insist you display that logo even for...

eBay selling advice needed ... am I being set up?

Don't accept Paypal with collection items. You MUST have proof of posting, and delivery to have any chance of defending any chargebacks or "not recieved claims".

Nikon 2.8mm 70-200mm Spot the difference

Yep, focus breathing. If you like to shoot the older version say around 3 to 4 meters (for close up birds, or Puffins in my case), the newer version drops its focal length by around 40 to 50mm - in other words to get that back, you need to use a 1.4x TC on the lens. If you shoot objects...

Calling all Sony Alpha users! (Part 5)

The Sony is f/5.6 at 300mm, both were shot wide open at 300mm but the Sigma is one stop faster. It does improve stopped down, but still doesn't match the Sony. Its still good value at £500, its half the price of the Sony 70-400 SSM. The Sigma is excellent at 100mm at f/4, it tails off on the...

Calling all Sony Alpha users! (Part 5)

I'm pretty sure that won't fit. You could probably use a Kenko, or better still a Sigma TC. I tested a Sigma 100-300 f/4 against your old Sony 70-400 and at 300mm the Sony absolutely smoked the Sigma ;) Sigma 100-300mm: Sony 70-400 SSM: So too be honest I don't think...

Calling all Sony Alpha users! (Part 5)

I've really no idea about the going rate for one..tbh I wouldn't pay £400 for a 100-400, but I would pay £500 for a 50-500 but that's just me. The Bigma is a pretty large lens though, but does have the advantage of the extra 100mm if you need it. I think Cosina do a 100-400 in Minolta fit...

Calling all Sony Alpha users! (Part 5)

The Minolta 100-400 is pretty rare, but gets good reviews. I've never seen or used one personally. I can comment on the Bigma 50-500. I had one for a while - it wasn't a keeper for me as I already had the Sony 70-400 SSM but the lens is pretty decent - its MUCH better than the newer 120-400 or...

    Nikon 18-70 v. 16-85VR.

The 16-85 VR is an excellent lens, but optically it doesn't really have anything over the 18-70 DX. The extra 2mm is useful, and might mean you won't carry a wide angle as well. I think the 18-70 DX is about Nikon best DX lens for price / performance. Far too good for a "kit" lens.

Great Bargain Lenses for Nikon Users

Nikon doesn't seem to make a special effort to caliberate "green dot" confirmation for manual lenses. You can use the "AF Fine Tune" option even for MF lenses to sort this. Agree about the Sigma 24mm f/2.8 - cracking little lens :)

    sale of the century

It'll go to £130-£150. Just watch :D It'll be bought by the type who buy Opteka 800mm lenses for £120 - a bog roll with a glass element ;) Any bets on where it finishes?!

A little help needed with a new purchase.

I'd definitely get the 70-400 SSM first, and get a Tamron later. Remember with VAT increase the 70-400 SSM is going to go up another £25.. whereas the Tamron will go up about £5. I think the Sony 18-55 kit lens is very good - no its not f/2.8 but optically its a very good lens. Surprisingly...

    sale of the century

Looks like cack to me - I'd be feeling ripped off at £40. Bet this goes for something silly price wise, if folks believe the "worth £600" schtick... I'm betting between £130 and £150. Followed by a sinking feeling for the "lucky" winner soon after :)
