The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I placed an order with my local LCE on 20th Feb, but it was mid-afternoon before I'd gotten around to it, and I was slated as being in the second batch by that point. I guess many have dropped out after getting from elsewhere or having second thoughts.

Thought I was going to be in the second or third allocation, but just had a call and picking up tomorrow

Both of those deposits are refundable by the way. Manager at my local LCE said there were about 40 paid deposits at about 1.30pm, which he said isn't considered high. Not sure if that's store specific or the whole of LCE. Anyway, he did say that the deposits were steadily coming in though...

Yes, my local LCE want £100 too. Clifton Cameras want a fiver (or at least wanted a fiver when I did at 6.30 this morning after the kids woke me up )

    Negative scanners

Just a little update here -- after doing a bit more digging, I picked up a Nikon Coolscan V ED yesterday. They seem to sit quite high up in the hierarchy of negative scanners as they have, amongst other things, a true optical resolution of 4000dpi. It has all the bits and bobs with it...

Show us yer film shots then!

And those three are why I've ditched all my high tech dslr stuff in favour of an F1n - they are just perfect imo. With an expensive dlsr (at least with me) there would be obsessing about focus, are the eyes pin sharp, can I see my reflection in an eye zoomed in a one million percent, are the...

    Negative scanners

I have to be honest, I'm leaning towards a Plustek. I would be getting my 35mm film developed by a lab and then would want to scan it in and process it using negative lab pro in Lightroom, which (from what I've seen) looks to give excellent results. It therefore doesn't seem as thought the...

    Film Developing in the UK

Quick question - if you plan to scan/process your own negatives at home as I do, is there any benefit to using one of the more specialised film processing centres for negatives. That is, if all you want are the negatives, can you use any old processing offering that happens to be the cheapest...

    Negative scanners

Thanks folks -- I no longer have any DSLR equipment, so the standalone scanner option is going to be best for me. I think that all I'd every be doing would be 35mm to be honest. How much of a problem 'Newton rings' are in practice is an unknown to me (I suspect not much of an issue to be...

    Negative scanners

There seem to me to be a couple of options when it comes to these -- Plustek or Epson. Which would you choose (or have you chosen)? It's not completely clear to me yet what the differences are between, e.g., the Epson V600 and V850, or the Plustek 8100 and the other/higher end Plustek models...

Good call, I'd forgotten about mifsuds - traded some kit with them years ago, amazed they're still going!
