    South Stack Lighthouse

Allen - no flash, just upped the exposure a bit in lightroom to highlight the 'foreground interest', but agree that they are a bit overcooked. Was trying to get a certain look (wide angle with close foreground interest). Nearly, but not quite ! Thanks.

    Up on The Roaches

Hi Terry - thanks for the comments. I will clone out the bright spots. Regarding the clarity/sharpening - I havent applied any extra sharpening over and above what Lightroom has put in as default (40), and ironically I took the clarity down (-10) to try and give it a 'softer' look. I think the...

    Middle Black Clough Waterfall

Decided to brave the weather and managed to dodge the hail/rain for this trip to the waterfall. Some sun broke through in the end! All comments gratefully received - thanks for looking :) Middle Black Clough Waterfall by Richard Breland, on Flickr

    Perch Rock Lighthouse (Rough Sea)

Thanks Jason. I like 'calm and sunny', but then you dont get shots like this :) I had a look on the Trinity website, but it looks like submissions closed at the end of Feb :(. Thanks ! Thank Peter.

    Perch Rock Lighthouse (Rough Sea)

Saw the weather was going to be pretty windy over the weekend, so decided to try and get a 'rough sea' shot at the Perch Rock Lighthouse. I could barely stand up in the wind/rain/sleet, but it made for an interesting shot ! All comments gratefully received - thanks for looking :) Perch Rock...

Getting the tones right! Head shot.

Had a very quick attempt in Photoshop. Created a Selective Colour Adjustment layer and decreased the Yellows and played around with the Reds/Magentas. Then added a Curves Adjustment Layer to adjust the look of the whole image (mainly decreased the highlights, but also changed the individual...

    Twr Mawr Lighthouse

Thanks very much for the comments everyone. It was a really nice day - plenty of people on the beach (its a really nice walk from the car park to the lighthouse along a massive beach), some even swimming in the sea...in February !! Thanks again :)

Another trip to the Twr Mawr Lighthouse on Anglesey. Shame there were no clouds in the sky, but quite happy with this. All comments gratefully received - thanks for looking :). Twr Mawr Lightouse by Richard Breland, on Flickr

    Hope Valley

After a trek up Win Hill (that nearly killed me !), there was a little light breaking through. Just after some critique on this - I have not convinced myself I like 'open' landscapes like this (prefer something with a more definite subject matter e.g. waterfalls, lighthouses, etc.). All comments...

    Llyn Idwal, Snowdonia

Ok - I thought it was looking a 'bit' blue, but it is, as you say, too much. Will try adjusting it - thanks :) Thanks :) I dont think so - but there were quite a few photographers around, so its a possibility ! You are correct....but...technically....I was standing next to Lllyn Idwal when...

    Llyn Idwal, Snowdonia

A couple from a trip to Llyn Idwal. I think I have got the names of the mountains correct, but feel free to educate me ! It was packed with people - really busy.
