Ah, yes, I can see that too! :)

    Lifeboat station.. The re-take..

I like #1 very much. It has a very calming quality. But a couple of things - I think it looks better with the empty sky at the top cropped as it gives more emphasis to the horizontal lines of the walkway to the hut. You still keep the horizon line of the sea roughly on the third line. The hut...

    The beauty of Luang Probang

Welcome to the forum! The first one is a very good scene. But you do seem to have the white balance wrong - it has a very red tinge on my screen and the blues are off. Did you have auto WB set? I also think it would have been better to get that right side boat completely in (or out) of the...

    North Hill, Somerset

Lucky man! Although I live in a great place myself (West Wales) I really enjoyed last week in Minehead. The walking and scenery around there are great. Had my nose pressed against the estate agent windows more than once. And who amongst us has not done that?

    North Hill, Somerset

Yes, although I liked the way the opposite curve shows in the edge-line of the trees on the far right - it gives it a snaky feel. It's not bad... Nort Hill, Somerset (BW version) by macro meister @ www.robmarshall.net, on Flickr

    Hartland Rocks at sunset

Lush! I was there a few weeks ago, and it looked nothing like that! Well done.

    North Hill, Somerset

Took this panorama last week in Somerset. It's North Hill near Minehead. A panorama of five shots stitched in CS5. Panasonic G1. The rather bluish light is exactly as it was. North Hill, Somerset by macro meister @ www.robmarshall.net, on Flickr

    A good beating

Yes, I was a bit surprised at what looks like motion. The model light on the flash didn't really show that - just a well-defined shadow. But the actual shot shows motion, which actually works quite well. It may well just be the rough paper surface that used as a background.

What do you think of this 'look'?

Those helicopter blades don't look quite straight to me... Seriously... I need to do this again and I need a better composition. I never noticed the uneven number of knives versus forks! I go around with my eyes closed.

Yes, I was thinking of other subjects to use. A human would be good!

    A good beating

It's a whisk, placed on white paper and lit from the left with a single studio flash fitted with barn-doors to give a very well-defined shadow. The shot is just of the shadow, not the whisk itself, which is out of shot to the left. A good beating by macro meister @ www.robmarshall.net, on...

What do you think of this 'look'?

Jim This was the shot after BW conversion, and before the final processing in the original. My intention is not to get perfect product shots, but to do something more creative.

What do you think of this 'look'?

Fair cop! I did actually place them very carefully because they scratch easily, or at least enough to show up on a macro shot, and I want to take some more shots with them. Anyway, isn't 'chaos' meant to really be quite structured and ordered?
