    Big in Japan - Nikon

Guys, thanks a lot to anyone who contributed. Perhaps I was lucky, but I found a bargain on a lens that I was looking for - the Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D. Excellent conditions, at least to my eyes. The shop is Katsumido: https://www.ginza.jp/en/shop/944...

    Big in Japan - Nikon

Thanks everyone, this was very informative. I didn't think about the Pound and didn't know about the tax... Still, I guess I'll check a shop or two for window-watching only. But then again if I'm not hunting for bargains I might as well go to the Nikon museum instead.

    Big in Japan - Nikon

Hi All, I'm about to go to Japan and I wouldn't mind buying some equipment to bring home, on the assumption that the prices will be more competitive and availability better. Has any Nikon owner shopped in Tokyo/Osaka for equipment? What I'm really looking for is both new camera stores but also...

Between Myth and Reality: Nikkor 24-120 vs Nikkor 28-300

Gotcha. I don't remember it on the Nikon site back then so probably didn't miss anything. I ordered the lens from Hdew @ 479

Between Myth and Reality: Nikkor 24-120 vs Nikkor 28-300

Thanks a lot for the feedback everybody, it was very useful. I will go for a 24-120. Also, I will look into that cashback you guys mentioned... did I leave some money on the table when I bought my D3300 kit, 35mm DX, D750 and 50mm FX? :(:banghead:

Between Myth and Reality: Nikkor 24-120 vs Nikkor 28-300

Hi All, I'm a happy owner of a D750 (thanks to this forum's advice months ago) with a 50mm prime. I'd like to get an all-round zoom lens, mainly for my travels. At the moment I'm torn between these two: AF-S NIKKOR 24-120MM F/4G ED VR (799£ on camerapricebuster, however Amazon has an offer at...

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

And it is finally here! Thanks to everyone who helped me choose this camera, I can't wait to start shooting with it.

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

Thanks, I bought the lens straight away (only 1 was left in stock!) Now I have to get the camera...

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

That is precisely what I did, and I have to say, the D750 does feel better. The grip is firmer and the autofocus is perceivably faster. So this is the camera I will go for, with a 50mm 1.8G lens to begin with. Thanks to all who helped me make this decision. Unfortunately the D750 is now out of...

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

@martsharm I will post some shots, I'm sure people here can help me improve my technique. I shoot raw and develop using Lightroom, but maybe I haven't played around with the setting enough? You mention that getting the focus wrong can create noise, can you elaborate on that? It's the first time...

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

Thank you for such an extensive answer @snerkler The comparison tool is brutal with my D3300 :-) I have made up my mind and I will look for a used D750 in good conditions, probably in shops in London so that I can inspect it when I buy it. If my search won't be successful, or if I won't find...

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

@foggy4ever thanks for the tip about the website @sk66 I see your point, a used Nikon D3s is in the same price range, I should think about that @Turbo-G I want to be able to blur the background in portraits. f1.8 works so far (on my 35mm DX prime) but I am interested in blurring more - or at...

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

Lighting is not as portable as a full frame camera. Besides, I have a speedlight with softbox already. And lighting can be invasive if you want candid shots, so not always applicable.

From Crop Sensor to Full Frame: a buyer's dilemma

Hello everyone, First post on this forum, so be kind :-) I'm a happy Nikon D3300 owner who'd like to "step up" into the full frame world, for the following reasons: I take more pictures in low light than I thought I would I get more noise in my pictures than I thought I would (in low light /...
