Personally, I have found most photography sites since maybe around 2011 or so to be gradually fading in terms of energy and activity. No one site in particular dominates as Flickr did before. So, my 'strategy' has been to include more than one or two sites in my online photography...
If you go to the site (you don't have to be a member or sign-in) and click the 'forums' button, then click the 'forums' button in the drop down you will get a list of recent activity on the site. You will be surprised how wrong you are about how 'dead' a place it is. There is a lot going on...
I am an infrequent member here, but do like the forums. I've been on Flickr as a Free account member for sometime and this year signed up for Pro to financially support what I believe is SmugMug's rescue of Flickr as opposed to Verizon's wish to shutter it. But, I am curious about anyone's...
There is no such camera that I can find. The Canon 600D was released in February, 2011. The Nikon D600 would have been a current model camera at about the time you are referring to. What camera are you referring to? A Nikon or a Canon?
I am probably really dating myself by this. My first SLR was the Nikkomat FTN bought new back in 1970. It was way beyond my means. So, except for the fine kit lens I had to 'settle' for Vivitar lenses. I could only afford black & white film, and to keep the expense down I began developing...
I have a question about the Olympus e pm-2 micro four thirds camera. I have been over on DXO.com's camera compare. I notice that the PM-2's low light sensitivity betters all other Olympus MFT''s cameras including the OM-D10. Can anyone explain Olympus' reasoning for making this entry level...
This thread seems completely about interchangeable lens Canon cameras. My experience is with a different sort of camera - point and shoot Canons. What I like most about Canon point and shoot cameras has little to do with the camera itself. It is more about the firmware the camera employs...
I went out for a shoot. I usually go out to shoot street once or twice a week. My shoots usually are for 2 to 3 hours. In that period I get from 200 to 400 shots. I go to venues where there are lots of people such as an outdoor mall or a fun pier. Yes, 200 to 400 shots in 2 or 3 hours is a...
If you haven't decided yet, what to do you might care to go to this thread and ask your question there. The participants can give you a lot of anecdotal info on their experience with the D810.

When I've had your issue of trying to decide which camera I have used a great site to compare the cameras side by side in order to learn their comparative differences. The site is www.snapsort.com. Hope this will be of help to you. Good shooting.
I think others will echo my experience. Back in my film days I only reached the level of SLR after progressing through many other sorts of cameras such as first fixed lens then on to rangefinder, then to SLR. I think the same can be said for digital. It seems to me that there will be a...
I am sorry but, I can't refer you to my sources. What I wrote is a summary of my understanding from reading across several sites and articles about the matter. For myself, I am taking the GDPR seriously because of Ipernity's stance on the matter of my street postings there. So, I guess I can...
You did not mention what smartphone you own. Have you thought of simply buying a better smartphone/camera combination? Also, several manufacturers make after market lens attachments for smartphones that give a longer lens and better lens effect. Sony does for one.
As for searching for a...
I will state my opinion one last time. I believe that once a photographer owns a camera that is superior in output to all the other cameras he owns then he will never let it go over the less capable cameras he owns. This is because he knows in his mind's eye that he has settled for an...
"I don’t think anyone is attacking you. The fact is people have differing opinions and we are able to discuss those differing opinions on here. In the UK it’s that type of statement that reinforces the sterotype of camera clubs. I get for some the camera and gear is the most important factor...
