the missus said I'm obsessed with photography!!

Your missus says your obsessed with photography, and the first thing you do is post about it on a photography forum! Case closed in favour of your missus. LOL.

Why are my images suddenly very dark?

For an image downloaded from the web, the PPI would make no difference whatsoever. What does make a difference is the size of the image, 800x533 for the edited picture you posted, which is the true resolution of the image. Pictures from the web viewed on a monitor are measured in pixels, not...

Selling a backup 40D and buying an EOS M - good or bad idea?

I have a 5DII and kept my 40D as a backup, but I think I've only used it once or twice in the 3 or so years since I acquired the 5DII. Recently I purchased an EOS-M and have used it far more than I thought, as I tend to take it with me on those occasions when a DSLR is just too much camera. If...

    Scuba diving photography!! Help

As others have said, the cost of a good housing for a DSLR can cost more than the camera. A cheaper alternative, but still capable of giving good results might be a camera actually designed for underwater work. You don't say where you are, but if you are in the UK, check these guys out...

    450d tv mode exposure

The usual advice on here when people are having problems with their pictures is to post up an example with the Exif data intact as it makes it a lot easier to diagnose what the problem might be.

    GULP.....need some advice

I'd second that. If you have a list of the crucial shots, it will relieve some of the pressure of trying to remember it all on the day. Especially important if there will be guests that you only get to see at this sort of family event, due to distance or age - not including them in at least...

Quick way of adding a watermark?

Faststone gives you the option to add text, so you can use something simple like © Mypicture, or you can use an image, and yes png files can be used. Obviously it gives you the option as to where the watermark should be positioned, and it also allows you to change the opacity if you don't want...

How many cameras have you got, and why?

I've never sold any camera I've ever bought, so they have slowly built up over the years. These are the ones I can remember. If I've missed any it's because they are tucked away in a cupboard somewhere. Film Canon AE-1 Canon A1 Canon T90 Canon EOS-3 Digital Minolta Dimage X50...

Quick way of adding a watermark?

For simple batch watermarking Faststone does a good job.

    A really old Canon

The reason that's not what I thought it might be is because that's a really old cannon, not a really old Canon.

How CAN you be a pro..

Using the basis of your argument, you could argue that you're not a pro until you start using medium format, or bigger.

    underwater photography

Have a look at www.oceanleisurecameras.com They have a wide range, and are in London, right next to Embankment tube station should you want to go along and have a look. I've found them to be friendly and very knowledgeable.

    mirror lens ?

This was taken with a Tamron 500mm mirror lens attached to a Canon 40D, and the highlight ring below the tail shows what sort of bokeh such a lens produces. The effect is far more pronounced if there are lights in the background. Mirror lenses are capable of producing decent results under...

    Flickr?

Mine is http://www.flickr.com/photos/scarecrowimages/ Just be aware that most of the images I post on Flickr are from my model shoots, so there's a fair bit of nudity, so the link should be considered as NSFW

Star trails - Can this be done using 18-55mm

You can shoot trails at either end of the focal range, but at 55mm the trails will be longer for any given length of exposure due to the extra magnification that 55mm gives compared to 18mm.
