Beginner New lens - pictures very noisy

Thanks to you all for the advice and also @GyRob for doing that. I only use Lightroom for editing my photos and tried using the noise reduction setting their but couldn't get it to look quite like you have with that other software. I've switched to full manual mode on the camera now and am...

Beginner New lens - pictures very noisy

Hoping someone can point out to me what's most likely quite obvious with what I'm doing wrong and why some of my pictures are coming out very noisy looking. The lens I'm using is quite new to me (Nikon 70-300mm) and I'm using a Nikon D3500. I believe I was using the "Shutter priority" mode...

    A House Sparrow

I hadn't heard this before, though we do rarely put bread out for the birds. Usually we have plenty of mealworms/seeds/peanuts etc for them however are getting low at the moment due to not being able to go out and get them from our usual places.

    A House Sparrow

Spent ages in the back garden today, hoping for a decent bird shot with my new lens. Was pretty happy with this one :)

    Buying my first lens

Well my new lens arrived today. Unfortunately no hood was included so would that one I linked to be an ideal choice or is there a better one? Haven't had a lot of time to really test it out yet but I'm very impressed and happy with it. The focal length on it should allow me to get some nice...

    Buying my first lens

Thanks guys, I've ended up ordering myself the 70-300mm Nikon lens and look forward to receiving it. Is it worth getting a lens hood for it as well? One like this?

    Buying my first lens

Thanks for the detailed info and help :) I have now also come across this Tamron 70-300mm lens, which is a fair bit cheaper than the Nikon 70-300mm I was first looking at. I was just wondering if it's worth me getting it but it's actually the fact it is much cheaper that's making me think...

    Buying my first lens

I've had my Nikon D3500 for almost a year now and so far have only had the included kit lens to take photos with, which to be honest for me has been a good lens and I think I've managed to get quite a few really nice shots with it. But I think now is the time to purchase my first additional...

    Autumn colour in the forest

Thanks and yes I did for the last one. I believe I had the camera on it's 'macro' mode for #2. I used aperture-priority for many other pictures during that day though including for #3 and #4 I believe. Thank you for all of your feedback, I really appreciate it and I'm still rather new to...

    Autumn colour in the forest

Went for a walk in a forest not far from home, hoping to get some Autumn colour captures. Was quite happy with the outcome :)

    Yellow rose

Our yellow rose we planted Spring this year. It took ages to finally start flowering but in the last few weeks it's been racing to get them out before Autumn/Winter kicks in.

    Birds in your garden

Was very happy today as I finally managed to get a rather nice shot of one of the robin's visiting our garden.
