    if you can't fit all the scene in one shot , do a panoramic sweep and stitch together , there are a few programs out there to do it. Then crop it to suit. A tripod is useful, but I've managed hand-held and got good results. I've even managed a panorama using a 200m lens, stitching 15 images...

    digikam for windows and linux is a fairly presentable replacement for lightroom, supports most raw formats and has the same non-destructive editing, tagging etc. Just not as snazzy an interface, but its free.

    I originally bought the D7000 with the 18-105 kit lens, and have bought a 50mm and 10-24, but I've got to say the 18-105 stays on most of the time, because its versatile, and because most of my stuff is "off the cuff" and not planned.:D Needless to say I am always lugging a hugh camera back...

    I have the nissen and a d7000, when in Creative Lighting mode the manual states the inbuilt flash has to be in the raised position even if its turn off in the menu, ie commander mode only.
