    Need help buying Hasselblad gear

Noctilix, that's one super yummy lens; would never sell it if I owned it.

    Need help buying Hasselblad gear

You're bound to take a hit when selling to a store, they need to resell it and make a profit on it. Richard Kaplan offer an alternative, you can put up the items for sale through them, and they'd take 20% commission. Which Leica lenses do you have, if I may ask?

    Need help buying Hasselblad gear

Happy to be of help. If you are serious about the Leica S, they have a new model being released in a few days' time ... I think it's the 007 with a CMOS sensor (which seems to be an offering from all Medium Format nowadays).

    Need help buying Hasselblad gear

Another point to keep in mind, if you study the lifecycle of the H series, you will see that Hasselblad release a new range every 3 ~ 3 1/2 years, which means the H6 is due out very soon. That really isn't a big issue for me, for two reasons; 1) I am never an early adopter, as I prefer to wait...

    Need help buying Hasselblad gear

I did think of the H5D-40, 50, 50c and 50c WiFi as I was studying which way to go. I ended up going with the 40 for a number of reasons: The 50c & 50c WiFi have the CMOS sensor, which gives much better higher ISO; but as I am predominantly into landscapes, I don't want anything more than an ISO...

    Need help buying Hasselblad gear

I've been away for a while, and just logged in and saw this thread ... Interesting, as I've just made the migration from Nikon to Hasselblad after years of studying the +ve and -ve of MF vs. dSLR. Neil, if you can identify the reason, or reasons, why you think the Hasselblad (or a MF) would...

Rain on lens - Best solution

Blotting with the cotton tea towel is what I do, and it has never caused any damage to any of my lens. Just make sure, obviously, to keep my hands as steady as possible since any sand grain / hard particles on the lens element would cause a nasty scratch with the slightest movement. Why do I...

Rain on lens - Best solution

I would have thought paper towels would disintegrate and create a gunk residue, not forgetting the crazy amount of lint too! A good quality cotton hand / pocket towel is relatively cheap from M&S, and their brand doesn't leave lint, and is support fully too ... helps to wipe your face from rain...

    Wide angle prime - Nikon

I have both the 24/1.4 & 35/1.4 AF-S, and both are great lenses albeit large in comparison to the manual focus ones. The 20/3.5 Voigt. is just a marvel of a small lens, great rendition, makes you think twice about shooting due to it being manual focus, and makes you that much more agile with...

Rain on lens - Best solution

I carry hand towels with me all the time, and bandanas. These will not stop rain from falling directly on the lens, if that's how the rain and lens are pointed; but I used them to cover my camera and lens, reduces water drops bouncing about and flooding as the cloth absorbs the water! I also...
