GGS LCD Screen Protector Glass for Canon 50D

Where can i get one in the UK without going to fleabay?

Looked on Amazon and delivery is between 7 - 20+ days!!

Always got mine from uk sellers on eBay. Only place I could find them at a decent price!

Last time I visited Ffordes they had them in stock and they do mail order - if you're adamant about avoiding ebay.

Hi

You could try the EOS magazine site, they do different screen protectors. Think they're ave price

AFAIK, the XXD series come with a screen protector fitted by the factory - you're not looking at the LCD screen itself when you use the camera - and it's quite cheap/easy to replace. Is this what you're looking for, and do you want an additional protector?

go to your local phone shop
get the generic type or a one for say a Iphone and cut it to suit you can get 2-4 in a pack depending or maker plus the shop you go in for a few quid but ebay the cheapest it all depend on time

Yes as the lcd protector has scuff marks on it and i have seen it being replayed on youtube. It looks simple enough to do, with care.

Anyone done that on a 50D?

Not quite sure what you mean. How did the LCD screen get scuff marks on it? Were you using the camera without the protective cover - this is fitted during manufacture.

Personal experience means ill never use a GGS again. Both of them cracked on my 2 1DMK2N's within 2 weeks and their reply was that i had abused them. For something advertised as being able to take knocks they werent much cop. I stick with the film type ones now as the first set lasted 2yrs before they needed replacing and the LCD's were perfect underneath when removed. The ones i got for the MK3's were Vikuiti off fleabay.

Acmaxx have them for the 50D. I have theirs on my Pentax. They take a week to ten days to arrive and are easy to fit and so far, good.

It was bought like it as it was 2nd hand.

Your LCD screen is NOT scuffed.

On a Canon EOS camera (not 1D mkIV or 7D) the screen assembly is made up of several parts, the piece you can see is the back of the camera is the factory fitted plastic LCD screen cover. This is a £10 self replaceable part.

It's a plastic cover that is held in place by double sided tape.

Ignore the part numbers as this is for a 30D, but the assembly system is just the same on a 50D

So do you really need buy is a protector to protect the protector  If you have no problems with seeing the display and your only thinking of resale value, then swap out the canon screen cover just at time of sale, otherwise I really can't see the need to speed money on a 3rd party cover.

In full adgreedment with the above, let not forget a camera is a tool, and in use its going to get a few marks on it.:)

This is what I thought too. I was going to get a screen protector for my 30D when I bought it, but my dealer - a professional photographer in Pretoria - told me it wasn't really necessary because the LCD screen isn't exposed. There's a factory fitted protector in place, and it's cheap/easy to replace.
