Yes
Sunroofs are a rare find on new cars and when you ask about them in the showrooms the salesmen seem to think that they are no longer required now most cars have air/con. Glass roofs are becoming available on some cars and my latest car has one but it is not quite the same as being able to push a button and have the glass slide back. In the US they still have the option on the same models that are sold here, as is the case of my CRV but they are called moonroofs :).

So are there many out there that would still like to have the option of a sunroof.

I test drove a used 1 series BMW saloon recently and that had a sunroof as well as aircon, I was quite impressed. In the end I didnt go for the BMW though. But yes Id like to have a sunroof.

No I never really thought sun roofs were worth having. Whats the point?

No I don't miss them. I have a cabrio :D

Been shopping around recently for a decent sized second-hand car with leather seats and a sunroof. Leather seats no problem, but sunroof? A rare thing indeed!

I'm quite taken with the panoramic roof on the Merc C-class Coupé, but the car's just not big enough to stash my kit in the back. I've not found anything else within my £3K budget.

I have good memories of cruising the Lakes and the Dales on sunny days with windows and the sunroof open. Times I'd be more than happy to recapture :)

How about this one?

If I needed a tiny runaround I would buy one of those, and I think they look great in white :)

or yellow with nice alloys.. I forgot what there "sporty" versions are called.:)

I've not really noticed not having a sunroof... not always an option on big vans

Having a sunroof is a nice thing as long as the bloody things don't leak.

I have a sunroof. The whole roof folds away, so it's more of a "no roof". When up it doesn't leak at all, unlike the MX5 one of my colleagues used to have, which always had a stream of water running along the inside of the driver's door window in heavy rain.

No.

They just stole valuable headroom from those of us who are over 6 foot tall, meaning you either had to lean in towards the middle of the car or have your head crushed into the roof lining.

Consider myself very lucky with my Focus, it was an ex-demonstrator so has plenty of toys including dual-zone climate control and a sunroof 8)

Ha! Our other business means we have Renaults, and they are very fond of huge big panoramic sunroof things, which I can quite happily live without! Never been fond of a sunroof to be fair.

Same here Yv, every car I have ever owned with a sunroof has had problems sooner or later, I would never have one again

I used to have an old BMW estate that had a double sunroof - 1 front - 1 rear - or a split of the two.. My current CR-V has a sunroof too - but that's on it's way to being sold ;) I do like a sunroof yes..

I don't like them, just something for rain to leak through. Glad my Focus doesn't have one.
Can remember when I was younger winding my dad's sunroof open or closed, so much effort, particularly when the handle broke off

I like the light they let in but have no desire to ever open them, particularly if anyone is unfortunate enough to be in the back seats when they're open. Similarly, I hate convertibles and can never understand why people enjoy them. I'm also of the opinion that convertibles are always uglier than their hard-top counterparts.

Either your bad luck or my good luck, I have had four electric sunroofs and a few after markets fitted, never had one leak or malfunction.

I tell a lie :D We were sheltering in town during a flash storm which flooded the streets and jokingly remarked to my wife that I hoped I had shut the sunroof, I had never forgot before...................when we got back to the car I discovered I had left it open and both front seats were soaked and I had to bale out water from the foot wells!!

Just changed my Volvo. Latest one has a sunroof and I have opened it at every opportunity. Love it.

I'd never buy a convertible either. I'd feel way too self conscious in it.

It baffles me when I see people driving with their roof down in bitterly cold weather. Yea, like that looks really enjoyable!

Had electric sunroof on both my previous Mondeos, had a Capri with a manual sunroof, a Fiesta with a glass tilt/remove sunroof and had an after market glass tilt/remove sunroof put in a Mk3 Cortina, no problems with any of them and none of them leaked. I'd have loved to have had one in my current Mk3 Mondeo, but none of the cars I looked at had one.
Next car will probably be new so will opt for a sunroof.

Actually Jon it really is - as long as your heater is up to the job. A lot depends on whether the designer got it right in the first place and the draughts are kept to a minimum, but currently I'm snug with the lid off and the side windows up - keep it above 30 and the rain goes right over the top. I agree that it's bloomin useless for the commuter crawl though.

My Defender has a sunroof, it's the only bit of it that doesn't leak

I have the "Classic" tilt and slide electric sunroof, I guess its been open twice
in the 4/5 years that I have owned the car.
So nope I wouldn't miss it, especially with the climate control.
If I feel the need for speed a breeze I just open both windows.

If I feel the need for speed a breeze I just open my zipper.

I'm just over 6' and own a 205 gti with a sunroof. I have to keep the cover open or my head touches the roof. There are a couple of ways to lower the seat slightly, one just involves replacing the factory plastic washers which I will be trying.

It's a 1990 car and no leaks (from the sunroof, however in heavy rain the seal behind the passenger wing lets in enough to give my car it's unique selling point - an indoor swimming pool)

Back in 1985 I had a Hillman Avenger (look it up youngsters!) with a vinyl roof and a 4' long sliding sunroof. It was great!

Steve.

Sunroofs are great. Brace of fresh air without too much chill for those days that are sunny but not warm enough for full soft top roof down. Ideal for unpredictable weather as its much easier to shut a sunroof than a full hood when unexpected rain happens!

All my cars untill recently had sunroofs ...miss the feelgood factor of an open sunroof....

One of my favourite ever memories was being driven home through Clumber Park around midnight, and standing up through the sunroof and watching a colossal lightning storm just a few miles away.
