Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

Is anyone else sick of waiting for Fuji refurb to get a black x-e1 body in stock? :( Finally managed to sell my D700 and lens' and now I'm playing a waiting game, think I've read every page of this thread in anticipation and have now been teased even more by the photos of the new 23mm lens! Hurry up and refurbish Fuji! :D

just been taking some studio shots with the xe1 and 35mm 1.4 and came across something quite odd... if I move the aperture ring to 5.6, it actually shows on camera as f13. It does also take the image at f13 too. One click to the left and it's f6.4, a click to the other and it's f5. Weird.

anyone had this? Camera is fw 2, lens is 3.

Have you had a look on digitalrev. They have new black ones in stock for £479 body or £729 kit including delivery.

Another vote for Footprint, really helpful guy that can put together any style/colour combo you like. I've had Gordy and Footprint wrist traps and in my opinion the Footprint is far kinder on the skin long term.

That's very bizarre. I have the same combination of body/lens with the same fw versions and mine doesn't do that. Could it possibly be a fault with the lens?

For straps , go British !
Search for Footprint straps on eBay . As good as a Gordy ( I have both), significantly cheaper and best of all its British.

Steve

Thanks, would much prefer to go British, was vascillating about the Gordy strap anyway, so just ordered a Footprint strap off eBay.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed .
I have 2 wrist and one neck strap from Footprint and am very happy with them

Apologies, another question from me - Is there any update since the last round of discussions (earlier this Year?) as to what software people are currently using/recommending to process the X-E1 raw files? I use Lightroom 5, but I'm not convinced that the results I'm getting are as good as they should be. Now its quite possible that that is down to my setup and technique with the camera, as I've only had it about a week, but the results don't seem as good as the files from the Panny GX1 that I had previously.

A quick question to you x-e1 users. Can you have the screen set up to show your settings when using the evf. By that I mean bring the camera up to your eye screen goes black, take photo rear screen shows preview and then back to your settings?

I am getting very good results, but only using J-peg :)

Yup, I believe that Fuji's J-peg's are very good, and I need to start playing with the camera settings for them, but I do also like to have and process the raw files.

Footprint strap just arrived - excellent quality, and looks and feels just right.

Thanks for all the recommends.

What color did you go for. I got my x-e1 today and have been looking at the black with red.

Got the all black one - no particular reason, but it does go well with the all black camera.

One thing - I got the strap with the universal coupling on it, but found it more cumbersome to use than with just the first split ring - plus, it kept rubbing against the body, even with the (supplied) rubber "O" ring bumper in place. So I took it off, and the strap seems much easier to use - plus I don't have to worry about scratches on the body. Just a thought if you want to save a couple of £'s.

Just checked them on ebay, looks nice but no way cheaper.... neck strap is £24... gordy strap equivalent is $27 (which is ~£17)

Same here, been using RAW all the time with Canon and its hard to give it up now. :)

I got a cheapy chinese thumb grip off ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thumb-Up-Grip-Black-for-Fujifilm-X100-X100S-X-E1-X20-X-pro1-Pentax-Q-Q7-Q10-K10-/121137482819?pt=UK_Photography_Straps_Hand_Grips&hash=item1c345b4c43#ht_3677wt_1018

Actually it seems to be nicely made from aluminium, had it on for a couple of weeks now, and it certainly seems to help, particularly on those occasions when I choose to shoot single handed (like when I'm holding a lead with a manic dog on the end of it in the other hand). Added bonus is that it seems to reduce the number of times that I accidentally move the Exposure compensation dial without noticing.

Iain

That's the same one I have just ordered. What thumb grip are you using and do you find it helps the handling?

Just a cheapo thumb grip off eBay. Works really well, improves handling a lot. Never had an issue with the exposure com dial but did with the jog wheel, grip stops this. The only downside with it I have found is it makes change the setting on the exposure dial a bit more fiddly

I brought a couple of thumbs grips, really nice but still have a bit of a problem with the exposure com dial getting knock,at the moment its got some sellotape to stop it moving :D

Talking about things that screw into the shutter button, anyone who could recommend a good cable release? I have found a few on amazon, but they get bad reviews (falling apart etc.).

I was discounting the XE-1 as I kept pressing the Fn button while half pressing the shutter (my forefinger doesn't bend, so sits almost horizontal)... but someone said that a soft release might reduce this problem.

A soft release will raise your finger up about 5mm from the normal shutter button. It may well have you enough clearance from the fn button. They can be picked up cheap enough on ebay.

Anyone after a 55-200mm lens. Wex have a refurbished one for £419.99. I am not sure how this price compares to Fuji's refurbished or best prices on new. I know they were scarce when I bought my XE-1.

Anyway link below.

Edit: Just checked Fuji Shop, they charge £550.00 for this lens refurbished. So if anyone is after this lens a bargain can be found.

Thanks, ordered one. Was waiting for the email from Fuji about a refurb being available, but as you say this is considerably cheaper.

My footprint strap turned up today. Ended up going for black and green. I will post a picture of it on the camera tonight. Have to say it is a very well made but a bit hard at the moment.
