Cuckoo

Lovely shot, ones in my area rarely break cover :(

Good shot Paul, an elusive bird ....... did you get anymore shots

Would be great to have details of how, when etc., you saw it

this is about a 1.5hr drive from where i live & quite a hike to get close to the habitat of this cuckoo..
we got their in darkness & pitched in but only had to wait for the light to show itself then the cuckoo duly obliged

we had cuckoo in the same area last year as well as a few others in durham which we managed to photograph..

we got loads of photographs, still got loads to process..

Excellent, superb feather detail (y) they've been a bit thin on the ground round here this year, only heard the one last week, not heard it since :(

The hassle involved in getting this shot was well worth it ! Fantastic image.

That's great!
I was out on Dartmoor at the weekend and four flew out of one tree. Did I have the camera in my hand............ of course not............ It was nice to see them though, and another (at least one) calling in the woods on the edge of the moor.

Great capture, My wife and I spent the afternoon on Exmoor and had a picnic watching a pair flying around and calling in a small coppice, it was quite amusing to see one being chased regularly by a small bird which I am told would be the chosen donor nesting bird ? Did not get any photos as too quick for me lol but great experience all the same

Haven't seen any this year yet but congratulations on the cracking shot of the cuckoo. I love the detail and the pose. What lens did you use? The background is beautifully out of focus.

Guessing you had it in Flickr explore too judging by the views on flickr :) and well deserved !

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I used a 600mm lens for this shot & I'm guessing but it would've been about 8 or 10 yards away.

Thanks everyone for taking the time out to comment it really is appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. Always interesting to know the details even if 600mm is way out of my budget. :)

Fabulous, got any more?
