buzzards

Two strong images, especially the second one. I think while the first photo has the good eye contact, it's let down by a slightly awkward wing posture.

Cheers guys.
I know what you mean about the wing position but I still prefer the first one. For me the eye contact is chilling.

First one is better than the second one, better light and glint in the subjects eye, background is smoother unlike the second image with the black shadows at the lower half of the image distracting the viewers attention.

Cheers I agree but they are mainly mole hills on the bottom. They were everywhere

Great shots. I wouldn't complain had I taken either of the shots. I would be over the moon. To complain about wing position when you have eye contact as clear as these two images is somewhat baffling me, it is not as though you can go out and repeat these two shots at will. it could be months/years before you could get another chance like this.

just being able to see these flying in the wilds ( without them being a far distance dot in the sky ) would be a bonus for me letting alone getting cracking shots such as these.

They have been hard for me to get close to, they were for a very long time my bogey bird.

Glad you like them....

Two very nice shots, the first does it for me for the eye contact.

both shots are very good

were they taken in "controlled conditions" Paul

These were all taken outside in the wild, I didn't go out to photograph buzzards
But as they appeared briefly we "made hay as the sun shone". So to speak.

If I ever achieve shots as good as these I'll die a happy man! just fantastic!
We have a pair of common Buzzards that are always flying around where i work (Wilmslow, Cheshire), but i haven't had much luck capturing anything I'd dare share on here!
When i bring my camera in they're usually too high to get any good shots (400 5.6L longest lens) !

Certainly two of the best Buzzard shots I have seen on here Paul.Nothing more to add other than you should be proud of them (y)

Very impressive then ............. the ones I see never allow you to get close especially in open countryside.
We have quite a few in France, but for such big birds they are remarkably quick and quite timid
Remarkable detail and colours, especially when you say that they are big crops .......... ......... very well done

We were camped in before first light for 4 days in a row & never left until it was dark, that meant each day was about a 10hr session but like I said before the buzzards weren't our target species but were a very welcome bonus.
