Dear All,

My Photography club, Southgate Photographic Society, currently has a public print exhibition in progress next to Southgate tube station.

This year, we thought it would be interesting to also make it into a little bit of a competition so we have created a website where all the prints that are on exhibition have also been uploaded and allows people to vote.

If you have some time, take a look at the photos and vote for your 3 favourites.

I also hope they will provide some inspiration and ideas for you as well.

What a good idea for a local society to gain a wider audience and perspective.

Thanks. The website and voting was my idea but the club has been running annual print exhibitions for a while now, although in the past they have been hidden away in church halls. This year, TFL kindly allowed us to use one of their empty stores.

I would highly recommend people to seek out and find their local photography club.

Our club has been going since 1938 and as well as tutorials visiting speakers and organised shoots, we also have internal competitions and inter-club competitions as well as an annual competition against our sister club in Southgate, Michigan.

I have learnt a lot and also have the opportunity for hands on practice of what you have learnt. Everyone is friendly and willing to help each other. Highly recommended

As said a great idea, but I am to late, would be interested if this comes up again..
 
I remember this exhibition,as I get off at southgate quite often,how do I go about joining the southgate society?

Hi Nicholas,
Just turn up to one or two meetings. If you like it, join up. New members are always welcome.

We meet every Tuesday evening between 8 and 10. This coming Tuesday is a digital image competition with a visiting judge. The judges comments help you better understand what makes a good image.
