I'm looking at getting a few of these for a video project where I need some fill and contrast reduction. I'm attracted to the low cost and simplicity. I'd appreciate any experience or alternatives.

Just thought I'd answer my question as I bought the aputure 672 light. Cheap and plastic-y feel to it but functions rather well. The light quality is ok too. Especially for the money. Looking forward to the aputure light storm lights due out imminently though. They look many times better.

I've got one of these and they're brilliant (especially that you can charge the batteries whilst powering the unit). Only downside I've found is they're not very bright compared to traditional tungsten lamps, but they're infinitely more portable and don't roast your subject alive, daylight balanced etc. They offer a softbox as well which is interesting, but might not be very worthwhile since it's only the same size as the unit.

I also have smaller Yongnuo 160s which are very useful in smaller, more enclosed situations. At a wedding this weekend my colleague used his 528s to give some fill over the dance floor and as mentioned by Tom Tom Tom, they were very convenient to use and charge up. I'm giving serious consideration to getting some too!
