Not specifically a video question, but I was struggling to find the right board to put this question on. If the admin team relocate the question could you please let me know so i know where to find this post.

Im wanting to create a Res slideshow, on a dvd and on memory stick. I want it to play through DVD player or be plugged into TV to play. I want to use a slideshow or movie file as I aim to sell the dvd and dont want people lifting the images,

Im on a mac. I have acess to I movie. But Im worried about the quality ?? Is this item is going to be for sale it needs to be hi res.

Can anyone recommend some software to produce best quality please ?

DVD is 702x576 pixels.

Don't expect any package to make the images look great. You'll be losing a huge amount of data.

How does having it on a DVD stop people copying the images? Put DVD in PC, freeze frame, screen grab or put DVD in PC, open movie file in one of a thousand free DVD rippers, etc.

I have been using MAGIX for some years now, I have to date been using Magix Movie Edit Pro 2013 which can be used for movies or making image slide shows. I burn my finished prepared show onto Bluray or DVD, this is my master copy, using Nero I then copy the disc using a code to protect my disc from copying. People will always try and pinch ones work, however using screen print will not produce a decent quality copy, if you are trying to sell your images to customers and if in doubt just place a water mark on your images.
Magix also have a decent forum for help..
Hope this helps...

As said earlier DVD image size is relatively small, so if people do try a screen grap the quality won't be great. If you are going to but the same images on a stick I'd keep the resolution to about the same. I have also noticed that quality of stills to video does vary with different apps, so I would check out what's available before purchase. iMovie isn't bad I've used that myself , plus you already have it. If it give the quality you want then fine.

Im thinking the type of people who would buy such a DVD, would be oldies like me mum. The chance of her even understanding what a screen grab is, is low to non existent.

Would people advise a video type format, or just go with a bunch of images in a file and risk them distributing them or printing them off ?

I used iPhoto to make a couple of slide shows in the past and you can output 1080 and there's good templates especially kenburns, I output to a sub pen drive and plugged it into a tv in the showroom and it just loops all day cycling through all the photos in hd
