Yes
A recent capture from the incredible 900yr old Fountains Abbey

Graphically very appealing because of the structure
and the texture less appealing in the tonal rendition
that IMO should be tweaked down to allow dramatic
expression of century old history.

Thanks you for your feedback Kodiak, very much appreciated.

As someone keen to learn, are you saying the tomes are too contrasty and would look better toned down ?

They certainly knew a thing or two about building in those days.

I do not see that this rendition is too contrasty but the DRL could
be optimized and the far point highlight recovered.

Once this are done, you could better assess the tonal values that
should allow for a more dramatic expression of centuries old history.

I'm not familiar with DRL? - i took as much highlight out of the window as i could, sadly the last bit was blown.

Sorry my PP'ing needs further educating :)

Hey Kodiak - learnt a big lesson there about set b&w points in LR, will use that always going forward :)

Would you set them on portraits as well ?

Here's the revised version which may be a tad too dark now ?

Dunc - please fill your boots, it's all about learning for me so the more advice the better. Be interesting to see if it's closer to my revision

OK, give me a sec to upload it. Yes, liked your second revision, too. It's all personal taste at the end of the day, unless you're going to market it and even then..

Here we go!

I prefer your crop and overall a better result. Anything you specifically tweaked ?

Too dark? No, you did just fine…

but you increased the contrast and that
was not really necessary I think.
Your first rendition had the right contrast.

…doing fine Mike!

Well, I cropped it a little tighter at the sides and top. I diffused it a tad to reduce the HDR effect slightly. I used a ND filter 2 stops left and right and 4 stops top. I took away any fragments of stone at the very top in the black area. I darkened the very end of the tunnel and removed a couple of bits of blow out. I applied a Sepia filter and reduced it by 60% to just leave a slight tone. Then a fraction of sharpening. All done in PS CS4 MAC.
