Hi all,

I'd have joined aaages ago, if only I'd checked my email junk folder for the registration email...

I've been messing around with a Canon 600D for several years now, but have decided - having "broke" the 600D - it'd be worthwhile upgrading to a FF. The main reason is because I'd like to try some more astrophotography shooting and the 6D seems pretty good for achieving this.

I'm quite happily surprised at the extent of this site, so with so much browsing to be getting on with, I may be some time enjoying all the great articles, threads, and member pictures.

All the best.

Hi and as above a warm welcome to TP.
Hope you enjoy yourself here :)

Welcome, I'm up in north wiltshire, but spent several years at boscombe down. Looking forward to seeing some images from you

Do you know of any particularly good spots in the local area Mike? I've found Bentley Wood and Danebury Hill-Fort so far!

Thanks Byker.

I'm sorry, I've only just noticed this message! I live in the new forest now so spend most of time there or down at the coast. Areas around your neck of the woods could be Figs Bury rings, salisbury cathedral, stone henge. if you join the national trust (reccomended) then there are some great properties around you. Mottisfont abbey at Romsey is really good, nice house, river, fantastic gardens. I've also joined a couple of groups through Meet up. They are the Hampshire Snappers and Landscape Photography. The latter is new forest based. If you join either then I may bump into you one day!

Old Wardour Castle, to the west of Salisbury, is worth a visit.
The A342 from Andover and A360 from Salisbury meet at Devizes which is well worth a visit and is also close to Avebury.

Thanks Iwland, Gary, and Snapshot, especially for the tips; I'll check them out, as yes, Old Wardour castle is pretty good! I've found Bentley Wood has been good for bluebells recently, as well as wildlife such as various deer, birds and butterflies. I've been trying to spot some Kingfishers along the River Test around Wherwell and Stockbridge but unfortunately with no luck. I've also noticed Danebury Hillfort is pretty good for birds of prey such as Buzzard, Red Kite and Kestrel. :)
