I saw my first pair yesterday, busily building a / repairing a nest in a shed.

Where i used to live we woke up to the sound of the birds coughing!
They are still clearing their throats / or snoring loudly every morning when I leave for work :(

They are now saying 25oC by the week-end, down here

After around a couple of weeks of chilly northerly winds here in Gairloch, the winds are now in the south west, so warmer, but also about 3 times as strong. It is really blow a good one just now, but the the signs of Spring are coming along. Blackbirds signing, a few swallows around and the willow warblers and chiffchaffs arrived in force about 10 days ago.

Dave

I saw my 1st Swift this morning and heard my 1st Cuckoo, It must be spring

Les :D

Who's "they"?
Met office are only giving you max 19°c Friday, 20°c Saturday and 22°c Sunday. :p

All I have in my area at the moment are Magpies, Crows, Rooks & Blue Jays........not exactly nice birdsong. There are also a nesting couple of Peregrine Falcons, so I have the shrill shriek of them, but I don't mind their call, and watching them scurry around the sky.

Hoping the Hummingbirds visit again this year.

It was a scorcher yesterday with a high of 33c; today will be around 29c. Not your typical Spring weather.

Still, it means early flowering with the apple tree and crab apple blooming marvellous.

You must be the REAL man Viv always talks about...:D

Can your missus do the stripe thingies on the Grass. real propa like:)

Came home after being on a course :)whistling:) on Tuesday to find Mrs Nod just finishing the front lawn - "Thought I'd do it while your car's not on the drive." My usual excuse (I hate mowing the lawns and would happily see them both carpeted instead of real grass!) is that it takes me as long to anoint myself in sunscreen as it takes to mow the lawns but I was already anointed for the coursework.

I do hope, given your advanced years, that you're retired.
If not, whatever you do, don't give up your day job for a career in comedy! (y)

:pompous:To be fair I let her have a break after the first lawn ,otherwise I would have had to make my own breakfast:hungover:

Been sitting listening to a Blackbird serenading me. Warm day (18C), no traffic noise and neighbour not doing his usual Black and Decker symphony on his new extension...... all is good.

Well the swifts have arrived this aft. so Summer is now here.

Quite a few LARGE bumble bees (flying golf balls) this past few days (y) .........but plenty of wasps around too. (n)
