I'm looking for a lightweight lighting stand for off camera flash, ideally one that folds up small and is over six foot tall. The lighting stands I have are all big and heavy and bulky, and all the ones I can find are too short, or still quite long when folded.
Anybody got any suggestions?
I'm looking for something that'll fit on the bag and not be a pain to carry around all the time.
Thanks Wayne

Have you thought about some of the cheaper plastic tripods?

Not that i would recommend as lightweight = blow over easily. There is a reason for the bulk.

I have one for sale with a hotshoe adapter on it. It folders to above 2ft (possibly smaller) and goes to around 6ft at highest point

Manfrotto do one where the legs fold upwards, there's copies available.

Yeah - Manfrotto Nano. Also Elinchrom Nano (looks identical but cheaper). 18 inches long and goes up to 6 feet (just).

There used to be lots of copies all over eBay (and some were very good) but can't see any good fakes there now.

Calumet Ultra Compact Stand

I think the 25% off sale might end today.
holds up to 3.5 lbs (1.58kg), making it perfect for you lightweight studio grip/stand needs. This versatile stand features a minimum height of 19.5" (49.5cm) and a maximum height of 84" (213cm)

18 inches closed, just measured mine. Been pleased with it. Have used it to support a modifier free studio strobe in an emergency, though with caution.

One additional one to mention, Matthews make a really nice folding stand similar in folded size to the Nano but much more substantial. So much so it it usually included in Kinflo Diva 400 kits. Highly recommended, but admittedly twice the price of the Manfrotto and other clones.
