We were 'fortunate' enough to walk halfway up a mountain before spending 4 hours in pouring rain and thunderstorms waiting for, and then watching, the Tour descend the Joux Plane. Despite the conditions, it was actually quite enjoyable!!

Tommy Voeckler's face in the last shot just about sums it up!!

I was wondering where the TdF photos were! Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you had fun despite the weather. There were so e nasty crashes on some of the wet descents.

Good set of photos, really captured the miserable conditions on that stage !!

Great set, good to capture Froome but the expressions in the last one make it my pick.

Thanks for commenting, everyone! We really enjoyed the day, despite the shocking weather, and the d750 and 50mm stood up well to getting absolutely soaked!! Managed to get shots of almost every rider (the advantage of watching the end of a mountain stage where the riders were spread out over 36 minutes) and took nearly 400 shots altogether! Worth every minute of the 7 hour drive across almost the whole width of France! :)

No 2 is my fave! Different

Love #1 but all are a cracking set of images.

agree with 1, good sharp quality as its always awkward to shoot in rain, well put together

Fantastic set of images.
Really enjoyed watching that stage on TV and the photos really give a sense of the atmosphere!

Thanks again for all the nice comments....much appreciated!

Thanks, Andy and thanks, Martin.....and you're right, it was pretty grim but enjoyable nonetheless!! :)
