Hi... In a month's time I'm off on holiday to Goa for 2 weeks but will be going to Mumbai for 3 days. Have been recommended to visit the Dhobi Ghat and would welcome other suggestions from anyone who's been there. My real interest is street/urban work so there will be plenty for me to do, I'm sure.

Now as to equipment I have a D610 and also a Sony NEX-3C which is my 'street' camera. I'm going to take the D610 and was hoping to get away with just the one lens - my two favourites are the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and the Nikkor 24-120 f4 and I'm inclined towards taking the Nikkor.

Yep, the Dhobi Ghats, also The Gateway of India + a short trip across to Elephant island, if it's of interest. The Taj hotel is across the road
The Victoria train station (new name now?) should be good. (y)

It takes so long to travel around Bombay (gridlock much of the time) leave plenty of time if you're on a tight schedule.

tbh, if you're into `street` you won't really need to travel far. Millionaires & beggars share the same space.
Night time is pretty special imo, so a fast lens will be useful.

We stayed on Collaba Causeway & travelled up to Bombay on the cat a few years ago :puke: (n)

I really loved Bombay!

There are also Dharavi slum tours, but I think they asked you not to take photo's. You'd need to check first.

Definitely take the range of the 24-120, you can't go wrong IMO. :)

Really enjoyed Mumbai and it is awesome for street photography, I found the best shots I got were in the markets - especially the flower market in Dadar

Juhu Beach was also cool in the evening but quite a long from most other tourist (I was working near there)

Agree, with the suggestion about night time and I never felt unsafe
