What are you unable to sync out of curiosity? Don't think there's much out in terms of cutting-edge android tablets recently, I'm still rocking my Nexus 7, would've loved a 9...
I had the latest Nexus 7 but wanted 10" screen, had a look around and ended up with the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet. To me it is far more flexible than an iPad, just plug it into Mac or PC and it's just another drive, copy anything to and from it.
SD card slot so you can add extra memory etc. It's expensive, but so's and iPad, which I did try before buying the Sony. Ended up returning the iPad to Apple after four days as I could not get on with it.
I moved from an early iPad to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (9.7 inch) about 6 months ago and very happy with it. Performance and reliability is very good, no hang-ups or crashes - all good, but its at the high end of Android tablet prices.

I have the slightly older Galaxy Tab S 10.5, no problems whatsoever, very impressed. Missus has the newer Tab S2 9.7, again problem free and seems to be a very nice tablet.
