Howdy!

So I've managed to bag a couple of days off work next week and as I've not been out with the camera for a while I am planning a trip............but where?? I've been to most of the usual place's in Scotland (Loch Lomond,Glencoe etc) so would like to try something different and make a day of it, I like the option of the Cairngorms as its only around 3 hours from Glasgow but I'm open to suggestions? Ideally somewhere with water (for LE), wide vistas, sunrise/sunet, woodland and hopefully snow if the temps plummet! Any tips of locations would be much appreciated (y)

Thanks

Scott

The Cairngorms is a vast area. Making "a day" of it will be really just a flying visit to a fringe where you can get car access.

A suitable area would be on the north side - Glenmore Lodge / Loch Morlich / Loch an Eilean. Google names and you'll get an idea.

Yeah ideally I'm looking for some decent recommendations so I know where I'm going and don't need to waste time searching! Thanks for the tips [emoji106]

Lochindorb is within your grasp

Thanks, will have a look on Flickr at that[emoji106] I'm wondering if there are better places to go with more potential if I'm driving the 3 hours anyway?

vist the kelpies and the falkirk wheel then just along the motorway is stirling castle

Thanks for the idea but I've been there a few times so looking for somewhere new that I've not been before, ideally looking to spend a full day somewhere that's a decent drive away! Kelpies are good though [emoji106]

The drive from Aviemore, past Coylumbridge, on past Loch Morlich, then up to the monorail will give you all the things you're looking for. Some truly spectacular scenery there.

At the opposite end of the Cairngorms you have Loch Muick.
It lies within the Balmoral Estates.
Just a few miles from Ballater, theres a vast Loch, towering mountains and its also an amazing location for Red Deer and Golden Eagles.
Travel from Perth through Glenshee on the way from Glasgow to Braemar is another stunning area.
