Hi there

I'm new to the forum. Having joined as I'm an English photographer over in France who feels out on a limb at times.

Right now, I am a working professional stock and commercial photographer as well as a time lapse creator. I supply work in the main to Getty Images into their house collections.

Last year I had a place in the LPOTY with that awful HDR in North Wales. An image that doesn't represent what I do as a photographer and I wish they hadn't chosen. I do know why it was chosen but won't go into that story yet.

A few years ago I used to write for the likes of Photography Monthly and some of the other mags in the UK.

If you happen to be reading this in Germany then they've just run an 8 page interview with me in CanonFoto and I should have something soon in the Lee Filters XPosure magazine.

Julian

Welcome Julian

Will be interested to hear from you and see some of your work, particularly THAT shot in North Wales ;)

Hi Ian!

Well, I can tell you that as a working pro it ain't easy out there. You have to work damn hard to get anything anywhere these days.

And yes, "that" shot in North Wales. Why oh why did they choose that? I asked the sponsor and was given an answer that left me baffled and has also made me think about whether or not to both with the competition next year.

Hi Julian, welcome to the forum :welcome:

Welcome aboard Julian - was nice to meet you a few months ago up in the Peaks at Mother Cap :)

Hi Dave! Yes, remember that. That was a good morning and an overall good trip for me. Met so many people and whenever I'm in the Peaks I always seem to find some really nice photographers there :D

Hi Julian, not sure why you're so ashamed of THAT photo... looks pretty good to me :)

Why am I ashamed? "That" image was just an afterthought and not at all processed properly. I had 25 slots and saw that one so just stuck it in. I had already done the regular photo that everyone does which is up on the road. A couple of months earlier I had bought the tilt shift so just went down to the river and shifted it right up which gave it the perspective.

Next week, I'll post it up with my thoughts on it and some other things ;)

I still think it's a good quality photo but if you don't feel you put the time/work in to produce it then I can see why you're disappointed they chose that photo over the others. Look forward to those thoughts! :)

Welcome, don't know the Tours area myself much other than to drive through as my friend had a place outside Matha (just slightly south of Bob :D ) that we went to for several years.
Looking forward to seeing your images. Always good to have a pro on here
